That's terrible advice. Dishsoap dries out the clear coat fast. Use a dedicated strip wash formulated to safely strip waxes and coatings.

To do a proper piston soak takes days. I would do 4-5 OCI's with the Valvoline Restore and Protect with a BG engine flush at some point in there and then do a piston soak if you're not seeing the improvement that you should, personally.
