I’ve found a plug in module that will override the VATS (Vehicle Anti Theft System) on 1989-1999 Silverados. Does anyone know of a plug in module to override the VATS on 2000 and newer Silverados? If there isn’t one available I will have my mechanic override it by splicing in a variable resistor.

The updated valve cover has been installed. 1400 miles and no signs of oil usage. Once this OCI is complete, my next OCI I will go back to Valvoline Restore and Protect to see if there is any usage just out of curiosity.

I’m about 1k miles into my current OCI using Mobil 1 Full Synthetic. No signs of oil consumption. This week, I will have the updated driver’s side valve cover with integrated PCV installed. After this OCI, I will try Valvoline Restore and Protect again just to see if the issue repeats itself.

Not changing back at this time. If consumption continues, I may swap out PCVs to see if it makes a difference. If no difference, I will put the new style PCV back in and look at installing the updated valve cover to see if that improves things.

I changed oil this weekend. Earlier than I normally would have. Had about 5k this OCI. OLM was saying to change oil and I was on the “rinse cycle “ following an Auto-Rx retreatment. Switched back to Mobil 1 FS. Also picked up the old style PCV valve. Will monitor for usage.
