I got a reminder that my '22 Mazda is due for its 6 month OCI on the 19th. Thing is I have only driven about 700 mi in those 6 months. I checked the oil level yesterday and as you can imagine the oil is pristine. I think to myself, maybe I should extended to one year instead of 6 months but...

I found a gas station relatively close to home that sells 100% gas. I will give it a try a few times.

I should have elaborated on this. The tires were changed quite awhile ago. Not at the same time as the oil change. There was a drop in fuel efficiency back then and another now.

Interesting...local Walmart pricing is $34.97/jug. Not a good value. I will check local AAP. I will definitely try it if on clearance.

Just a thought. Water not being as good a lubricant. The the fact that water and oil dont mix. Perhaps I am overestimating the amount of water.

Regarding the Trap and Lock technology....wouldn't the water molecules "suspended in the oil" reduce the VI?

I have seen it but in the local Walmart it is priced at $34.97 vs $28.97 for Mobil 1 Hybrid, making not a good value against many other oils.

Well I recently put Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W-20 in a vehicle that calls for 0w-16. The fuel efficiency went down more than I thought it would. I wanted to try the thicker grade and now I have. Maybe I will switch to 0w-16 on the next OCI is there is more data available on it.

UPDATE: It's been a couple of weeks on the Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W-20. MPGs have taken a hit. The switch to thicker oil plus the switch away from low rolling resistance tires have made a noticeable difference in fuel economy. The Venza, being a hybrid vehicle tuned for max fuel economy...

You are probably right. I remember installing/setting turbo timers back when I was a teenager. We have better turbos and better oils now but old habits are hard to let go.

To the OP....can you run a 0W-20 oil? Sure you can. The car was designed for it and it probably will be enough with regular OCI. The real question...why not run xW-30? You are going to pay about the same (OTS oils) • pick a high quality OTS oil from the top brands (Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Ultra...
