It's only discoloration. Can't catch your nail on the cylinder walls, or feel anything rough to the touch. You can still see the cross-hatching.

I am replacing the head gasket and have direct access to the piston tops right now. Can I add Berrymans B12 directly to the rings or should I do it after I get it all back together?

It's not smoking and I can't find any leaks. I keep in it the garage and the floor is clean. No signs of leaks when running it. Replaced the valve cover and am replacing the head gasket.

Sure, I do not have an exact measurement- it's about a quart every 200 miles. I still want to see what I can get out of this car. I'm going o start tracking it so I can share accurate amounts.
