The bearings used in your motor are the same spec going back to older EA888.3 spec'd for 5w40. Only difference is your oil pump has less teeth so it spins faster in order to handle 0w20 which was spec'd for CAFE. Absolutely no reason a 40 grade won't be fine.

Out of warranty I see no reason to avoid it. It's not unreasonably thick, and is by all accounts an excellent lubricant. I suggest using the Autozone filter bundle for 5x 1qt jugs with a filter, makes them pretty affordable.

You are talking about KV100, not HTHS. Your KV100 is thickening due to volatile low-quality bases.

They have the same issue as Ravenol, limited distribution in the US. Helps drive prices up (though vollsynthetisch 5w40 is actually not bad, similar pricing to Leichtlauf). Looks very good though, on paper anyway.
