Red Line Euro 5W-30 VOA 12/2023 (SP formula)

Decent balance of Moly and Boron. In fact is seems most additives are up compared to the SN formula with the exception of lower Calcium which should help with LSPI. Oxidation shows this still contains tons of ester. Hopefully it's Noack is still <5. Fairly low TBN, even for a Euro, so I...

HPL Euro vs SP. Why use inferior add pack?

Ok, first off this is not about whether HPL makes good fluids. I use them exclusively in my drivetrain and trans and have gone through a case of no VII in the past as well. I like their stuff. What I'm wondering is if a timing chain operated gas engine is not LSPI prone, doesn't have fuel...

HPL ATF Green CC or Amsoil ATL?

For a newer 4Runner with the A750-F 5-speed that calls for Toyota WS. Both fluids look good on paper with maybe a slight nod to Amsoil, and I can get 5 gallons delivered to my door of either for nearly the exact same cost of $294 (yes, I used the BITOG discount and have an Amsoil account). They...

Title says it all- why does Amsoil tend to thicken up over time more so than other synthetics?

Viscosity recomendations for Nissan VQ4.0L. Opinions wanted.

Hello! Have a newer Xterra with the 4.0L VQ engine. I've been hearing that the VQ's prefer a little thicker oil. Manual states the now common 5w-30 but also lists either 10W-30 or 10W-40 for temps over 0deg. Well, I generlly prefer thicker oil films for better protection and fuel milage is a...

    Bypass psi critical?

I have an '06 Xterra that uses an Amsoil EA013 filter- which is TINY! Looks like a much larger EAO36 will physically fit but it has a different bypass psi rating. Original is 8-11psi and the larger is 11-17psi. Neither filter will ever see more than 8000 miles. I'm running either 10W-30 or 5W-30...
