I'd use 0w20 over 5w20 every day, all day long. 0w20 is a lot stouter oil than 5w20.

Probably good for break in, I wouldn't expect anything less, in the northern States during snowstorms and lot snow cleaning, the vehicles get alot more idle time than that. Next time, check before you buy, too late to complain about nothing this time.

Alot has to do with where in the time zone you live, east to west and north to south which makes a difference on daylight hours. And then you have the people that will whine about not knowing when to change the batteries in the fire detectors.

Amsoil 5w50 or Rotella 5w40 would be my preference.

I'd run the oil and filter two years. I never take a filter off and reinstall it. I have seen people change oil and filters every 3 years and when they sampled the oil, the results were fine and within normal specs. But two years is my limit as you never know if you got a defective filter.

If full and sealed your 100 percent fine. Even if open with the lid on you are fine. If ever in question, shake a container and if it looks like cream, then water has entered.

We have a lot more technology and safety features on vehicles than in the past, I know it doesn't justify all of the cost, but adds up along with inflation, higher profits etc. The main reason I won't buy a new one vehicle now is the problems that are developing with the vehicles after warranty...

Use what the manufacturer recommends, you can jump up a grade, but I would never go thinner. You could use 0w20 in a motor that calls for 5w20, but I would not go down to 0w8, 0w12 or 0w16. Older, high mileage engines if using oil, I would not be afraid to 0 or 5W30.

Genos Garage for Cummins filters are the easiest and cheapest way that I found to go!
