Is top-tier gasoline still worth it?

With starting a new, longer commute, I suspect time and convenience will become your new concerns. If the Sam’s is close, convenient, and a good price, I would go with that - from one long ‘work commuter’ to another!!

Marvel Mystery Oil users, Problems with the new bottle?

I bought a bottle recently for the first time. Had it bend like that first time tried to open it. As others have said, hold it be the neck when pushing the top down.

    Lexus GS350 (2GR-FSE) Oil Consumption

Restore and Protect says it needs ‘4 OCI’s’ to work; I’d give it that interval and then see where you are. People ARE reporting lots of success if it’s given time to work.

Those with 150,000 miles or more, check in

I think one of the best properties Pennzoil Platinum has is it’s cold-weather performance - it’s ccs values are very low, and from experience I can say it does crank over very well at about -30C.

    April lubricants industry market update.

Oh, okay, didn’t realize you were saying RIP the PC American business. Still an interesting development at this time!

    April lubricants industry market update.

Also, you said RIP to PetroCanada; is Petro Canada going to become a fuels-only part of Suncor, and this move means there won’t be any PC engine oil anymore? Or will HF just produce PC-labelled oil at another plant? Petro-Canada just recently acquired Canadian Tires gasoline business; CT...

    April lubricants industry market update.

At a time of tightening base-oil production, I don’t understand getting rid of a base oil plant?? Will someone else buy and operate this?? It’s seems like in this market it’s a license for printing money??

$6 - $10 increase on oils (5qt jugs) in Walmart this morning July/2026

In those parts of the world, war is almost a daily part of life. I don’t think it even phases most of them to work in those conditions. Add in generous hazard pay/bonus, and it’s a no-brainer for them to go to work.

    2027 GM 5.7 and 6.6 will spec 0w-30 oil

Interesting - right now, in most places, Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-30 is the ONLY oil that actually meets this spec - wait, Petro-Canada makes a 0W-30 that will meet this spec, but good luck finding it! Will this not cause a challenge that warranty cannot rely on this oil, bc it is simply...

2015 Honda Civic 1.8L; 4.1k mi Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20 - used oil analysis

Silicon is relatively high, and Al is high for the miles - some bearing wear going on from abrasive dirt in the engine. I’d check the air filter and pipes for leaks.

Do you or have you owned a rusty vehicle?

Living in the Ottawa Valley my whole life, rust is a non-stop situation here; not just for cars, but for bridges, foundations, equipments… Just junked my 2009 G5 because rear spring/arm mounts were cracking from rust. The ‘new’ rockers we welded on 6 years ago had all fallen off in pieces, and...

Factory fill 5W-30, 500 mi, 2026 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, 500 mi - used oil analysis

It’s not Mobil 1; it’s the step-down Mobil ‘full synthetic’ as FF - Mobil 1 has less calcium, and more magnesium in the add-pack. Also, without fuel, Mobil 1 would not shear down like this has.

    Odd Car Names

GM’s 70’s subcompacts…OMG Oldsmobile Starfire - a star IS a ball of fire; so what is a ‘Starfire’? Pontiac Sunbird - is that like a Pheonix? A bird that comes out of the sun? Buick Skyhawk - a hawk is a bird, so it will fly in the sky, what is a ‘Skyhawk’?

My Huge Automotive Dealership Opportunity Missed

Mazda had a kind of rocky start through the 70’s - the rotary engines were fast, but had problems. Mazda didn’t ‘get good’ until the 1977 GLC came out - they were everywhere in the early 80’s.
