All I know is it went over 16K in my daughters work car and it was still full when I stole the car back long enough to change it. No oil analyses and didn't want to know to be honest. This was 5w30 in an 09 Altima that's begging for mercy right now @250k
Her cars a 24 and we bought it in May of that year. It went from the dealer lot straight to the tire shop to rid itself of the stock Hankooks. So a fair amount of highway, but a lot of local in town as well. As long as they don't suddenly develop road noise (Bridgestone I'm looking at you) I...
I found with just about every cheap tire is they will ride hard. Either right away, or 20k later. My wifes continental pure contacts were $1K and have only worn down 1/32nd in 24K. Still ride like new. My local belle tire was in shock when they rotated them.
I haven’t had to use one outside of helping a guy at a Michigan game last year. He was running his crock pots off of his Silverado and starting it periodically until it didn’t. It’s only a 1000 amp but it fired up his truck like a new battery.
That’s why I don’t use it unless I’ve got a battery that I need to verify is going bad. I get some numbers when the batteries are new and track them as time goes on. So far at 18 months, there’s been no drop off in CCAs or voltage.
I’ve got jump packs in all 3 of my cars, so I’m going to see how long I can ride these out with the charging theory applied. I do test them once a month, so barring a straight up failure, I should have a good idea when it’s time.
I started using battery minders and a Pulsetech anytime my cars are setting after I replaced all 3 batteries in December of 24. All 3 batteries are testing @ 100% state of health and way above their cold cranking amps. I only have 1 agm and it started degrading a bit, but after setting on the...
I guess I’m not as educated on tires as I thought I was, but have never had an issue on hot pavement. Whatever the issue is supposed to be. I just did 1100 miles this week in 90 plus degrees and minus being squirrelly until they broke in. My new Pirelli’s performed flawlessly.
Funny you mention sentury. I was on a two week business trip back in March and took a Nissan rogue from the presidents circle. Flight was delayed, so by the time I grabbed my car, I didn’t care. This was in south central Florida so temps were hot. The car had what is considered high miles (48k)...
Port injection for the win. By the time I stole my 09 Altima back from my daughter, who drives 130 miles roundtrip every day, she had 16K on some Mobil 1 Truck and SUV 5w30. By the looks of the oil, it only had 5k, although I snapped a pic when I changed it and it was way past that. I set the...
You know far more than I will ever know overkill. The only thing I do know is winter temps in the negatives are just brutal on oil. My DI cars will literally have the oil level rise from dilution and the under the cap milkshake needs cleaned off more than once. I like running boutique oil, but...
My experience with defenders is about 5 yrs ago. But they were hard as a rock. I still think Michelins last for ever, but so many are enamored by the name, they overlook the shortcomings. I’d take a Continental over Michelin any day. Less money and hits all the marks.
I just bought some Pirelli P7 AS3 plus for my Nissan with 19" wheels. Minus smoking a tire on an Indiana pothole in the 1st 500 miles and having to get it replaced. They're great tires. $795 out the door
As someone who stocked up on oil like it was covid TP, I didn't pay more than $20 for 5 qts not counting the redline I bought for the wife's car. Which was the cheapest I ever bought it for. Articles like this have been screaming Wolf since day 1!
That's a long run for a Canadian winter. I'm on the Ohio Michigan border and change my oil once temps get above freezing. I'll run quite a bit longer, spring through fall, but winter oil is something I don't mind dumping with a few K on it.
There’s so much oil in limbo it’s ridiculous. Meanwhile the US and A become the #1 producer of oil in the world. I’m in Illinois and as crazy as their gas prices are ($428-$467) , they’ll have gas fall this week. My local station in Ohio dropped 25 cents as soon as they opened today.
I filled up for $3.01 in Terra Haute Indiana yesterday. Of course this was after I had to replace a 4 day old Pirelli tire that set me back $250 courtesy of the worst roads in the midwest.
