How our family camped in the 70's

Both of my Grandfathers loved their old wagons. You could easily fit a full sheet of plywood in them with the seats folded down. That outside window crank story is a riot.

    Arizona Black Rattlesnake!

Think about it. You can grill them and eat them.

    84 month car loans

Wife is wanting a large 3 row SUV in about 2 years. I told her definitely look at a year or 2 old used vehicle. Valuation drops fast.

    Arizona Black Rattlesnake!

    Rattlesnakes are not poisonous.

    Major dam failure in China

Looks like an earthen dam covered in a very thin layer of concrete. Not acceptable for that much water.

Why is painting so hard? Even a simple metal bracket.

I had to run an air conditioner in the garage to get any decent paint adhesion. Humid as heck here.

    Broken exhaust stud removal

That looks like a plug tap. That is what I use 90% of the time but if it won't start threading in you may need a full taper tap. Also, if your drill press has .008" runout I doubt anything new would be a whole lot better unless you spent a ton of money for something made in Europe or USA.

Rivets on 3 piece metal head gasket? Should I remove these before installing?

At least 3 of those rivets look like they sit in a passage or cutout, they will not be a problem.

    Dehumidifer in the garage

There was a vinyl enclosed insulation I had lined up but never pulled the trigger. It was white and would reflect light nicely while containing any fibers. The attic is already covered in OSB and I don't want to add any more weight on the underside. I need to check pricing again as it had a...

    Dehumidifer in the garage

We used to have quite affordable energy rates but they went up a few years ago. Currently paying 12.5 cents/kWh. That might sound cheap to some but it's all relative. It used to be closer to 10 cents. If I had 2 windows I could alternate between the open window with the fan and still have one...

    Dehumidifer in the garage

As mentioned, the hot air from the dehy is going outside. The heat is from the sun and ambient. Garage is detached so no shared insulated/cooled walls to take advantage of. The energy used by the dehy is less than half of a traditional window a/c unit. It's extremely quite and the air flow is...

    Dehumidifer in the garage

The duct blows hot air outside. The intake is the air inside the garage. I believe the window unit was around 8k btu. I think it pulled over 700 watts but I would have to verify. The dehumidifier is not moving much air and only pulls 240 watts. I had the window unit set to auto but it is an...

Do you have a lift cart / lift table?

People use those or something similar to remove and install Porsche engines. They drop out somewhat easily compared to a front engine car on V shaped mount. The Porsche engine basically hangs from upper supports.

    Dehumidifer in the garage

A few years back I insulated my garage walls and installed a window for a small air conditioner. It was nice for all of a month or 2 until the cost per kW/hr went up quite a bit and I replace the A/C with a basic box fan. This blows in humid air and makes for swampy conditions while working on...

Need opinions- worth it to pay $1200 for new AC compressor on 19 y.o. SAAB?

I was doing plenty of checks and repairs on R134a systems until my gauges failed. The low side has a leak. Most of our vehicles are the new style R1234wthbbq refrigerant so I haven't replaced them.

Shop Air plumbing done; shop air aftercooler unnecessary

Black iron pipe is most commonly used for natural gas piping so I highly doubt it is very permeable. Aerospace grade metallic (ptfe core) flex hoses are tested for leakage using helium. Perhaps that may permeate through black iron but definitely not water vapor.

Shop Air plumbing done; shop air aftercooler unnecessary

A constant leak? My vertical drop has a water remover but it never has anything in it. The tank definitely does.

Need opinions- worth it to pay $1200 for new AC compressor on 19 y.o. SAAB?

If you were in the south it would be a no brainer. Does he really need A/C in NY?

    Dash Cam hard wiring question

I don't think you need to connect that battery wire at all if you aren't worried about the wake up mode for an impact when parked. I would be cautious about tapping into a critical circuit as well. Try to avoid anything involving the ignition or the fuel pump. For my Ram I found a sunroof...
