The power of AI - helping me fix a leaky toilet flapper

AI was surprisingly good at walking me through the controls & settings of my Generac generator when I was doing annual service on it in the Spring. Unfortunately AI will also provide inaccurate information very confidently, so I make sure to verify all important AI provided info before using it.

    Gummiest engine ever

Can you imagine if one of them were a BITOGer, how they would drive the boss crazy reminding them about scheduled maintenance.🤪

    New tool thread

Just ordered this little 3/8" to 1/2" adapter. Found myself wishing I had one when doing an oil change on the 535d; I scanned my toolbox in vain thinking I had one, but nope. It will allow me to use a 1/2" drive 27mm socket on my 3/8" drive long reach ratchet to remove the oil filter housing cap.

Phone line tool- any reason to keep?

10-11 year old you managed to use "ship", "pass", "funk", "cant", "cordlicker", "monkeyfumble", and "tips" into one tirade? That's impressive.

    Water Main Shut Off Tool

Not sure what my shutoff valve at the meter looks like because I've never looked in the 1.5 years I've lived here. My plumber has shut it off a couple of times and all I've seen him use is an adjustable wrench.

I can't work on my cars anymore.

I am cursed when it comes to brakes. Every brake job I have ever done, without exception, was way harder than it had any business being. The last time I did brakes was sometime before 2010 on my '00 VW GTI, and that was a major PITA. Never again.

Is BITOG an oil site or a car site

BITOG is like the neighborhood bar, where I would sit in a corner booth and avoid certain of you.

I can't work on my cars anymore.

Do you have any family or friends local to you that could recommend a trusted local independent shop?

I can't work on my cars anymore.

The love of working on cars has been gone for me for a while, and I ache pretty good for a couple of days after an oil change. Anything harder than an oil change goes to the shop for me these days. And don't get me started on brakes. I HATE BRAKE WORK with an illogical passion and refuse to do...

I tried to retire and failed

I have "Retire today" in my google calendar for my 60th birthday. I feel like putting something on a calendar has a way of making it more "real". We'll see how it goes.

    New tool thread

From what I can gather, think of these as nut/bolt runners, and not as impact tools to remove fasteners. Use hand force to loosen the fastener, then let the power do the rest.
