Definitive Pennzoil Ultra Platinum vs Mobil 1 ESP vs Amsoil vs Valvoline Restore and Protect

I have Honda, doesn’t use drop of oil. None of my Toyota’s, including current one ever used drop of oil. My BMW that I track uses 0.5qt of oil in 5k. So, maybe, just maybe, it is your philosophy “all oils are same.”

Definitive Pennzoil Ultra Platinum vs Mobil 1 ESP vs Amsoil vs Valvoline Restore and Protect

I maintain my friends 2014 Toyota RAV4. 2.5, 4cyl, 155,000mls. O changes every 5k per CarFax when they bought car with some 120k. Since they bought it they constantly have to add 1qt every 1.5-2k. Small VCG leak, nowhere near to that amount of oil. Not valve stems, so leaves stuck rings. So we...

You again don’t understand how oils inflict damage on an engine.

Having someone else work on your car.... car guy sin or not?

I mean, doing job is not an issue. I did far more complex and tedious work. And you are right, doing some outdoor activities is dangerous. Every day I walk and step on left foot, my knee reminds me of that. But it is also ROI. BMW probably won’t need struts for a long time since it has B6 on it...

2025 Toyota Tundra SR Loaner - I really hate this truck!

Every car has issues. What I found is that in Toyota circles issues are usually represented as: “ah it is only xyz, not big deal.” So when I was buying Sequoia one of these guys that only buys Toyota and has Tundra says: “man, they are excellent trucks. Just check leak on TC actuator, they like...

Definitive Pennzoil Ultra Platinum vs Mobil 1 ESP vs Amsoil vs Valvoline Restore and Protect

That is not how bad oil kills engines. Engines don’t just give up if there is low quality oil or inappropriate oil in it. They start developing deposits, slowly affecting parts whose function is dependent on oil pressure, like various variable valve systems, timing chain components or most...

Toyota Sienna Hybrid A25A Engine - Oil and Coolant Temps

Sure. Yeah I dropped Atlas bcs. windshield issues. Pretty much Made same mileage as Sienna did. I mean, I don’t have mental and emotional issues like some here to acknowledge when I buy car that turns a problem or it is not what I needed. You on other hand, like I said, illnesses that don’t...

Newer 0w20 PCMOs dropping Dexos 1 Gen 3 approvals

I know for a fact when one oil company stopped sale as their VW502.00 expired and there was bureaucratic issue with renewal. Resolved fast, within days, but they stopped sale.

    Post your latest parts purchase

Hallelujah, praise the Lord! Ok, background story. Several years back I decided to venture into project of upgrading brakes on BMW. To be exact, installing Brembo calipers from newer 3 series from 335/340 model, and rear from E82 135i. E90 330/328 had high performance brake option that involved...

Having someone else work on your car.... car guy sin or not?

I have Bilstein on BMW and VW, and Sequoia will get it. Honda is getting rear B6 in few days, an hour job. Not sure front will ever need change considering how much I drive that car. So, seriously, how much is high quality strut machine? I really never researched which brands or models are bad...

The Current New Truck Market Is In Trouble

I know all the tricks. I travel enough. However, that is not how it works for most people. The point focus of airline industry not whether I make workarounds, buy certain products to get offered upgrade for cheap, have enough points etc.

New car sales dwindling due to high cost

But those interest rates are unsustainable. Also, in the end of 2015 I actually paid more in APR for a car then I would today. Here is where the difference is, and I already talked about it. If you calculate inflation, i am making now same amount of money that I made in 2013, regardless that I...

Changed Brakes on my own, creaking noise is still there!!

I have aftermarket brakes on two cars, and no issues whatsoever. Not sure what Toyota has (except that they suck). Like with everything, some are good, some are just bad. Considering reputation that Akebono has, I would say Raybestos is culprit.

I have three kids. There is no way I am compressing strut with some DIY compressing tool. Rears I can do, but struts? My kids still depend on me.

Changed Brakes on my own, creaking noise is still there!!

It is not Akebono. While I detest Akebono because of junk performance (which is their choice not lack of ability) they are superb supplier. Your problem is Raybestos.
