Sil Glyde on all brake job lubrication points? - 2011 RX 350

I'm in a tropical area so moderately rust prone we'll find out when I take it apart.

    I miss bench seats.

Great childhood memories. I'm only 6 feet tall but I always feel a bit pinched in by the fat center consoles in cars these days - even my fairly large Lexus SUV cramps me a bit.

Sil Glyde on all brake job lubrication points? - 2011 RX 350

As the title mentions. Planning on lubing the slide pins, the back of the pads under the shims, and the grooves where the metal clips fit into the bracket. Sil Glyde will cover all these spots or should I use the little packet of grease that came with my bosch quiet cast pads for certain spots?

Post your Gas Mileage : Calculated

How's that Corolla been for you? I am looking to get one from that generation. That's good MPG!

First new car. 2026 Honda Pilot Trailsport

Nice my BIL has a 2022 I think. I have driven it I don't like the push button gearshift but it drives nicely.

4 beater cars I’m considering. Input?

Pickup is something I don't need that often. The RX is reasonably useful to throw things into. I think I'll be looking for a good deal on a Corolla/Matrix/Scion Xa/b/c/d from the late '00's or early '10's. I think these years of Hondas were a bit of a step down especially with auto...

    Walmart oil prices - Ah!

I see Amazon still has it for &29.97 or whatever. I will say though that Walmart here in the middle of the ocean (Maui) doesn’t carry Valvoline Restore and Protect but almost all their oils jumped up in price by $3-$4 since a week or two ago. Also the Kirkland oils over at Costco went from...

Valvoline Restore and Protect brought me back to BITOG

Wow so it helps oil burning and leaks too? I’m using it in my 182K mile RX 350 that seeps a bit of oil. I was actually concerned it might make it worse but after researching it seems that’s not a big concern.

Study shows driving a manual transmission is good for your brain

I think this is a stretch. It definitely makes you more attentive though.

4 beater cars I’m considering. Input?

Nice. It's funny how a basic ass car like a 2008 Corolla could inspire nostalgia the way this beat up little car did today. The first car I drove extensively was a 1990 Corolla 5 speed manual that my sister and I split as our first car and my test drive today really brought back memories of...

4 beater cars I’m considering. Input?

Got there as the Accord was being sold. Drove the Corolla and it was a little too beat up for me. Drove it though and it kind of spoke to me. Think I’ll Keep an eye out for a clean example of the generation and see if I can get it for around $4500. I’m a patient person

4 beater cars I’m considering. Input?

Oh yeah I forgot there's such thing as a Mazda 2. I'd be sharing the car with a non manual driver, otherwise I'd love to get one with a stick.

4 beater cars I’m considering. Input?

Haha probably not. I have a bit of bias toward Toyota but some Hondas and Mazdas interest me too,. I'd love to find a 2010ish Mazda 3 hatchback but right now none for sale around me.

4 beater cars I’m considering. Input?

A bit but nothing like living in the northeast or something. A lot of the heavier populated areas on Maui have predominantly offshore breezes so the air is usually not that salty even near the beach.

4 beater cars I’m considering. Input?

Yeah this is the one I'm most optimistic about. Seems like the buyer is a more together person than some of the other cars. I know Accords have had transmission issues but from what I've read the 07/08 Accord are better than the 03/04/05.

4 beater cars I’m considering. Input?

Hoping to check out 4 cars in my area today. Looking for a spare car and reliability and cheap/easy maintenance and repair are my priorities. I'd like to keep it below $5K if possible. It’s slim pickings around here but I’m not in a hurry. I don’t really “need” one but I’ve gotten used to...

How many drain and fills should I be doing during a transmission fluid change?

Definitely helped in my 2011 RX 350. Noticeably smoother shifting than when I just changed the fluid.

Why don't Honda/Acura V-6 Owners Replace Their Timing Belts?

Wow I guess I dodged a bullet selling my V6 Accord coupe last week. It was a 2014 and still on its original belt so definitely due! Guy who bought it is an amateur mechanic so I don't feel too bad for him. I'd be bummed to shell out $2K for that though for sure.
