Project Sunrise; extended long-range flights in new Airbus

https://www.airbus.com/en/newsroom/stories/2026-07-extending-the-horizon-inside-the-a350-1000ulrs-longest-development-flight Longest flight I've taken is 14 hours, with no special preparation. Add another eight, and I'd have to consider a sleep aid of some sort, "wellness zone" or not.

BMW Thinks The Electric M3 Is So Good You'll Forget About The Gas One

The XM? It's not bad, per se, but when a 6100 lb plug-in hybrid SUV is positioned as the flagship M car, questions do have to be raised, especially considering the company's history, past models, and brand image. Not something like an R8, AMG GT, 911, etc. To be honest, BMW hasn't been...

Anyway quick way to add multiple phone numbers to block list ?

You can set up a Focus mode, i.e. "MetalSlug's Me Time" And within that mode, choose who you want to hear from, when you want that mode to be in effect, etc. Or simply block calls from specific contacts, but you will have to remember to manually enable and disable it for each contact.

VW may axe Taos and Jetta under restructure

Yep. Each OEM will have their own criteria for what they will accept as a valid business case. Also depends on what how strongly the local importer will lobby for a model, and whether those in the home office listen and agree. VW has long has some serious issues in those respects when it...

    Amazon Vine reviewer

I've written perhaps a dozen or fewer reviews in all my years on Amazon, but have done so when I thought it could add to the conversation. After the last one, I was invited to join Vine, and like free stuff (who doesn't like free stuff?), but the time and tax implications weren't worth the...

VW may axe Taos and Jetta under restructure

The Jetta (Bora) sedans better suit Chinese, and U.S. tastes, but aren't so hot at home, where more flexible styles like hatchbacks (Golf) are preferred. VW could afford to ignore, or fumble the U.S. market when the Chinese market was strong, but when the two largest markets in the world don't...

    Amazon changes AGAIN reviews...............

It's not just Amazon who is succumbing to ehs-ittifcation. When Bezos ran the company, it was customer-first. No longer under Jassy. It would be pretty difficult to live a modern, practial life without being touched by these companies. Not just your shopping portal. Your insurers. Your...

Mobil 1 $10 rebate + Fast and Furious Cup

I didn't receive any acknowledgement except for the sweepstakes entry. And my submission never appeared in their online portal.

Mobil 1 $10 rebate + Fast and Furious Cup

I've finally received the "UPDATE!" email with the cup tracking info, and notice about funds being sent under separate cover. What kind of lag are people seeing between that email, and getting the one with the money? It's been at least a couple days and counting here.

    Amazon changes AGAIN reviews...............

Amazon has been testing a lot of changes lately, and the return process is being revamped as well. It doesn't affect every customer, or to the same degree, but they are occurring whether one sees them or not. The review system, which has never been great, is being put behind login walls, and...

    Talk to Me about Watches!

The first question to ask yourself -- what do you want to buy a watch? Is it simply to tell time? People who don't wear watches will often chime in to tell you that there are many, many ways to tell time these days, and they will be pinpoint accurate sources as well, like your cell phone. And...

Sil Glyde on all brake job lubrication points? - 2011 RX 350

I tried to prolong the life of some Toro plastic sprinkler heads by applying it to the pop-up stems. It washed off rather quickly in a damp environment. On caliper slide pins encased in rubber, it can have the opposite of the intended effect by turning into a gummy paste as it ages. It might...

    Window shopping (literally)

We're in the hills, so wind year round, compounded by sun and rain in the appropriate season. But no flying objects via hurricanes, so no impact rating required. None of the half-dozen sellers I've talked to have recommended vinyl, given the conditions, and I don't believe that to be due to...

How old is too old for brake fluid?

Ate specifies up to a five-year shelf life for their unopened containers, which are metal cans. I would expect less from the typical plastic container.

Mobil 1 $10 rebate + Fast and Furious Cup

I wanted to break the radio silence for my submission made and received on 5/27, so I sent an email inquiry. To their credit, they responded quickly, were "able to find" the file (whew /s), but pointed out that it can take "up to four weeks for initial processing to complete" and "an additional...

    Window shopping (literally)

Doing research for new windows and doors. Conditions call for fiberglass/composite, or aluminum clad wood; no vinyl. Not South Florida, but they will have to stand up to strong wind and sun exposure. Hard to tell what actually stands up, and which companies back their warranties if needed...

House passes bill to make Daylight Saving Time permanent

There will satisfaction and dissatisfaction either way. I'd be satisfied simply by not having to fuss with the clocks bi-annually.

which new battery to get; price vs warranty

Mass market replacement batteries are commodities, with the good on racks fulfilled by whatever the supply chain can produce and deliver at a certain period in time to a certain place, with Clarios, East Penn, and Stryten (nee Exide) producing, or drawing from their own pool of resources to...

    Continental Tire Rebate 07/01/2026 - 08/31/2026, Up to $200

Conti (and General, by extension) runs three or four rebate promos annually, with each one aimed at a specific range of tires. The more performance-oriented tires had their promo during June, and based on past practice, will have another offer in November.
