Throwing a party for a friend, Suggestions ????

By the way, after seeing the photo of the flaming washing machine (a first for me), I now realize that any party that doesn't include an inferno-appliance is thoroughly LAME!!!

Throwing a party for a friend, Suggestions ????

My suggestion is admittedly uninspired, but it could be pretty helpful nonetheless.... Stop by a toy store and get a handful of Frisbees, Nerf footballs, junk like that. Horseshoes for the old dudes. Borrow a few baseball gloves from some friends or coworkers. I'm a perv, so I'd make or buy a...

    Competing Additives?

"Is it possible that in using different products in succession..." If in SUCCESSION, I'd say no. I've never heard any evidence that using Valvoline High-Mileage oil after using a cycle of Pennzoil Platinum was of any significance, to name two random products. Same if you use Seafoam a month...

    Air compressor needs non-detergent, synthetic.

I'd suggest "Rodney's Non-detergent Air Compressor and Poodle Fur Oil" http://www.ebay.com/dsc/i.html?LH_TitleD...+compressor+oil

Pulled a valve cover on my GTO

WOW. Now that's clean. Clearly someone believed in regular oil changes there. Almost clean enough to eat off of, not that I'd suggest that. Oh, what the heck... Drop a handful of Captain Crunch over those rocker arms and go for it! Sans spoon.

Never using racetrack gas ever again

A few weeks back I purchased "premium" gas from a Union 76 (Conoco) station but noticed afterwards that the receipt showed 87 octane. (Luckily they charged me the lower rate too, so it wasn't a rip-off, just a mistake in the way their pumps were programmed.) The 87 octane button was taped over...

Never using racetrack gas ever again

Racetrac may or may not be decent gas, but it shouldn't be so poor quality that your ride would choke on it. It doesn't happen often, but there's certainly precedent for dishonest station owners diluting bulk gasoline with waste oil and other "filler" petro-fluids. Just enough to pad their...

    air filter short ?

"Dam it , part guy give me wrong filter." I briefly worked a Sears Auto parts counter back around 1981. I'm full-on self-service, and always check the application guide and part numbers myself, online if possible, in advance. The only thing I might trust the counter guy with is to accurately...

Foam pre-filter with normal paper filter

I've thought about this too in the past (a supplemental foam filter wrap), but suspect it's not worth the effort. My guess is it'd tend to be well-filtering, but would reduce the measurable air flow. Or it might tend to restrict only modestly, but accomplish little in the way of filtration...

oil filter cross reference for briggs platinum

Just a general comment here...I'd be hesitant to use cross-referenced filters if your application is otherwise covered in the online (or paper) catalogs and you can get a precise recommendation from a filter manufacturer. Sometimes details get lost in a cross-referenced translation, sorta speak...

    Need help with ratings

The SF rating became obsolete in 1989. The current SN rating supercedes all older ratings, including SF, and would be appropriate for your ride. The CC rating became obsolete in 1991 and only applied to diesel engines. "Just found out that is what I should be running in my truck." FYI, for the...

    Eaton Cutler-Hammer CH Load centers

Perhaps you can find what you need on the Home Depot website and see if it's stocked at a particular store? (Select your H.D. neighborhood "store" on the website.) Or perhaps you can order what you want online and have it delivered to your local Home Depot for free or low-cost??

Is there any real benefit to an "engine shampoo"?

Clean engines are great, of course, at least in that they make an engine easier to work on and look at. But I'll also say that every engine bay I've degreased over the past 15 years resulted in something running screwy for a few days or more, a wet windshield wiper motor not running for a week...

Why no synthetic oil in my Detroit locker?

How funny....this is the second "Eaton" thread I've come across and responded to tonight, even though I can safely say I don't have a clue as to your answer. (I work at an Eaton plant that manufactures hydraulic valves for airliners and military aircraft.) This might help answer your...

    Eaton Cutler-Hammer CH Load centers

Well, I wish you luck on getting this answered -- hopefully someone else here who's knowledgable can chime in. I know there's electrician's message boards out there that can help as well. Couldn't resist dripping in to say hello -- I work at an Eaton aerospace plant where we manufacture...

very light green tint on spark plug

The problem here seems obvious to me. Clearly you somehow got some green Martian soil that wound up in your combustion chamber, possibly dust off a stray NASA lunar rover that fell back to Earth or somethin'... Either that or this... "Erosion, Corrosion and Oxidation: The material of the...

Solution - Removing perspiration odor from shirts

I've never tried the vinegar angle, but recalled reading that before. So I did a quick Google search right now, and sure enough, one can find endless references to vinegar "freshening" up the laundry when a cup of same is poured in with the detergent. Not sure how it works (I'm thinking gnomes...
