    PureOne gasket failure

I would cut open the suspect filter and see if the inside looks normal. I would not rule out a counterfeit product. Seems like the leak occurred during a 500 mile window, which seems odd for a gasket being at fault.

UOA article - what is "normal"

Great analysis and article. I wish you would add some 4 cylinder engines. How are the universal averages given by the labs derived and how best to use them?

Were the two bulk oil purchases on the same date? I wonder if moly is subject to settling out or quality control is lacking at Mobil.

    Amsoil ALM 5w20 - 12,415 miles - 07 Honda Civic EX

Found this article on fuel and SD 85 octane. http://www.ethanolproducer.com/articles/8858/octane-whats-in-your-fuel I believe I filled with 85 octane at Trail's in Albert Lea, MN which tanked my MPG.

    P1 Autopsy- 10K Miles

My issue with filter pleats becoming wavy is the pleats appear collapsed so effectively taking some surface area out of filtration. I also have examples (P1 with 10k) where the wavy pleat junction with the end cap adhesive starts to look torn, not yet a hole but certainly compromised. I also...

Yamaha Vstar 650 oil, no CD or higher?

Any thoughts on why Yamaha favors auto grades SG or higher non energy conserving II and no diesel spec CD or higher? This is stated under caution about clutch slippage in the periodic maintenance and minor repair section of manual.

    Best oil for 2003 V-Rod?

I found the VRSC 2012 manual online and it calls for up to CJ-4. Your oil choice is best determined by miles per season. If it is <4k HDEO 15W40 is fine, if going 8k-10k than M1 or AO 20W50. I cannot see paying per qt what is per gallon. HDEO is still very high HTHS, and REVO shouldn't see...

    Best oil for 2003 V-Rod?

Anyone using a HDEO in a shared sump motorcycle? The VRSC manual recommends "oil certified for diesel engines", although not sure this applies to the CI-4, CI-4+, or CJ-4. The manual says CF-4, CG-4, CH-4. The CJ-4 oils were bottom rated in the TDR57 issue turbodieselregister.com, lower calcium...

I am curious what GM TEC would do to the UOA. I had searched other Civic UOA's and the Si and Al levels appear somewhat higher than normal. It may be due to dusty conditions from road construction during the OCI where pavement was removed. I assumed the filters could handle it.

    Old bottles of Gumout Regane

The Regane bottles at Big Lots are the older larger bottle that is clear, and the contents is amber. Dark sounds bad or counterfeit.

I checked my gas record and this OCI did have a long trip with big highway days, total trip was ~2.5k. Explain the longer MM interval. I also ran a Gumout TFS cleaner (PEA) prior to this change. Does this add any particular contaminants?

The OCI via MM I would say averages 7500. I wonder if the duration was revised on the new model.
