I would say Fe, Pb, and Cu seem high though maybe not out of line for this GM engine. The only normal number is the Al. I would look for results on a similar engine and check that if sodium is high for this oil.

Cutaway compare Motorcraft vs the World (almost)!

K&N looks strange, 55 pleats must be bunched up on the opposite side, really bad. I would think standard end cap removal sockets would slip on the small MC flutes. Media size and filtering much more important than the valve designs.

How to remove oil filter without oil spilling?

My Toyota has a side mounted filter to the block without much clearance around the filter for a catch device. The oil in the filter center is what spills, the oil on the outside of the media doesn't really spill since the anti-drain back keeps that oil in the filter, I just tip the filter up...

Mechanic installed filter without filling with oil

Isn't preventing dry starts why filters have anti-drain back valves? Of course, each OCI is only one dry start out of many starts, but it such an easy practice to fill a filter. Also seems to me vertical mounted filters are becoming more and more common even when it that a bit more engineering/cost.

    2 PureOne's Cut Open

I have seen a similar gaps with multiple PL10241's. One pleat appeared to be tearing but not yet a open hole. These were run 9-10k OCI. The PL14610's I have inspected have all looked good 8.5k OCI. What was your OCI?

    FRAM ULTRA NEWS

The cartridge/canister cost difference it is likely about volume. Plus they have to worry more about quality since you see the filter build quality and take back if its looks bad. My AAP locations online have XG filters but say call store. I hope this changes to in stock so I can apply a 40%...

Mechanic installed filter without filling with oil

Absolutely pre-fill your filter where possible, when mounting is straight up. It is one of those simple steps that makes it worth the your DIY time. I find you need to fill several times to allow the oil to get through the media, probably 2 minutes of time. You also have a better reading on the...

I had the Dexcool sludge show up in the reservoir tank of a Olds Intrigue. If you have the same, could you test these cleaners in the reservoir to see their effectiveness?

I have added RL with a M1 EP in the past. This may give you the insurance for longer OCI. My purpose was to try to get the extra cleaning.

Death of a 3MZ-FE!!! Sludge pics inside!

3k OCI doubtful. That would average 10 changes per year. I wonder what the coolant level was, if they were asked about adding coolant/oil on a regular basis, or as previously suggested the condition of PVC valve. Over the last 27 years, I have had just great experience with Toyota's and...

Bosch Dist. Plus 3323/2oci's/~13.5k mi. PICS

I am currently going 2 OCI filter change on Civic with a Mobil filter right now. Though I still removed the filter and drained it. Besides the canister oil, there is quit a bit of oil that drains out after during removal. Should end up with ~16-17k miles.

I also opted for the K&N filter years ago on my Sienna. At the time I thought it was an economical option and would filter as well or better. After the many comments questioning this type of filter, I am having second thoughts. I did do a UOA last August on my Sienna which showed Si at 22, Fe at...

    New formulation G-oil VOA!!!!!!!!

Since I would like 10k for OCI's, maybe mixing the old formula I have from FAR promos, with the new formula (50/50) would make this a reasonable goal. Thoughts about mixing the two?
