No sludge monster here. Could you see oil seepage from the cam seals before dis-assembly? Where to look? What is involved in replacing these? Thanks

Differential Pressure Data, Pure 1 & Motorcraft

Some open questions about specific readings. How can there be negative DP values? Is it possible your bypass filter is affecting the measurements? I would think the filter's bypass should cap the DP at the full open PSI value? I assume you are adding the temp and rpm values from independent...

Silicon appears elevated and likely causing Fe and Al to be higher. What is the history on the air filter?

A comparison of Mobil 1 and Amsoil EaO oil Filters

Any thoughts on the TBN or the last viscosity reading? Looking at average TBN values, one might say the EaO had a substantially lower outcome. Looking at the trend of TBN, it was decreasing at a fast rate, other than the last test result which also had that unusual jump in viscosity.

    COP/Honda 0w-20, 6,185 miles, 11' CRV

The risk of dislodging dirt is why it was recommended to change near the end of oil change. The fuel issue you may want to bring to the dealers attention in case its a warranty issue. May be a faulty or dirty injectors.

    ST 5w-30; 15k miles; Villager 245k miles

dnewton3 thanks for all your detailed information. Can you clarify how many 10k dino OCI's this vehicle had prior to the 15k one? On you 15k run, at what mileages was the oil added and what quantity?

WIX 51522 cut open after 9,427 miles

The third, fourth, and fifth pictures look like the several pleats are full of sludge. I cannot say I have seen many this bad.

Why does Honda recommed one filter for two OCI's?

I have drained and replaced filters (M1), just don't like leaving so much old oil behind.

    Horrible filter location...

Using a strap oil wrench seems like the biggest problem. I haven't used one in at least 20 years. Most vehicles don't have the clearance around the filter to use them. As someone else said get the right tool or just use your hands.

    TGMO 0w20, 6033 mi, 2012 Honda Civic R18

Looks like the OC carried over a fare amount of Honda oil, based on the 2x normal moly in the TGMO. Did you not change the filter? Hopefully the high values are still from break-in.

    2012 Honda Civic R18 - Mobile1 0W-20

Likewise mine are modest acceleration, also about 1/2 mile thru subdivision, rolling stops, onto a 40 mph road with one stop light and one turn before up to temp. Will have to wait until winter to get the cold weather comparison, though like I said before this Civic never seemed longer to warm...

    Unhappy GM Oil Filter

I would start with the service manager, if they don't apologize and offer some compensation (likely free OC, you might ask for new filters instead), I would request the contact info for the regional rep and indicate you plan to file a formal complaint.

    Fram ExtraGuard PH8316, 7100 miles, 4 months

Does this filter mount vertically with threads down? Does the secondary valve actually hold oil when off the vehicle? Too bad no convenient way to prefill oil into a new filter. Seems like it either provides backup to primary ADBV or may make removal a little bit cleaner by not allowing filter...

    Mobil Super 5K 5W30 '09 Subie Legacy 2.5i 10655 mi

Do you remember when the make up oil was added? Is this a 5 qt fill? I imagine that fresh oil is why the TBN held up.
