    Cat Filter Video

Thinking about trying the cat 244-4484 filter on my 7.3's after next oil change. Will do a uoa thereafter to determine if there is any benefit; I believe it's a 10 micron glass/synthetic fiber filter. The filter construction looks really good, but I still don't like the idea of plastic center...

What kind of drain plug is this

Bear in mind that if it's a torx looking head, Ford uses a lot of Torx Plus heads which require Torx Plus bits. Often a Torx bit will work, but you run the chance of breaking the bit or stripping the bolt if it doesn't come out easily. To someone that hasn't seen first hand the differences...

whats your oil filter of choice and why?

I like mahle the best, but I use mobil 1 and bosch D+ too. In my opinion, Mahle has the best made most consistantly uniform filters available; not necessarily the best filtering, but, quality-wise Mahle is unbeatable. Edited - I use Donaldson on my personal truck (ford f-250 powerstroke) and I...

    Pine Tree Sap?

I've found the best thing for sap and road tar is diesel fuel. Doesn't harm the paint, not as volatile as kerosene, works very quickly without scrubbing and abrading the paint, and I've used it with great success for a long time without any ill effects on paint etc.

    UNDERCOATING?? Is it worth it?

I use fluid film now, works great. I have multiple vehicles with hundreds of thousands of miles on them and the newest is over 12 years old. No Rust on any of them AT ALL. This is in northern NY. I used to use waste motor oil and wax, heated and melted into the oil, then sprayed hot. Th e fluid...

    Used Motor Oil Promotes Rust

That's not true at all. not even a bit. I have multiple vehicles with hundreds of thousands of miles on most of them and they were all sprayed with waste motor oil for years, no rust in northern NY. now I like fluid film, works just as good and is easier and cleaner.

    Mobil 1 TDT + MOS2; 10k miles; 7.3L Powerstroke

Yes, there's 15 quarts of oil on this engine. I only add 1 can of MOS2 per oil change. I've noticed three things by taking oil samples on this engine. 1. wear increases a little when it's being worked hard (not too surprising) 2. when I double the drain interval from 5,000 miles w/ delvac to...

    Mobil 1 TDT + MOS2; 10k miles; 7.3L Powerstroke

A little over 10,000 on this sample. Anytime the numbers picked up a bit was when this truck was worked hard for that interval. Went from Mobil devlac 15-40 to mobil 1 TDT at 310,000 miles to get easier starting esp. in winter. This truck has a very strong running engine and, other than some...
