Oil Pan Replaced - Learning Lesson (Lots of Pics)

Yeah I always have in the past. I think I was just curious as to what the actual spec was. Apparently a lot tighter than I do by hand. Now I have a perfectly good back up oil pan

Oil Pan Replaced - Learning Lesson (Lots of Pics)

I was interested to see how much the fumoto valve stuck into the pan as that is one of the complaints about them. Pretty minimal in this case.

Oil Pan Replaced - Learning Lesson (Lots of Pics)

Story time... Last week when I changed the oil in my 2001 Toyota Echo I used a torque wrench for the very first time to tighten the drain plug, I've always just hand tightened. Set that baby to 28ft/lbs, getting tighter, and tighter, still no click, then loose and turning again. Only thought...

Subaru OEM Cut Open (2014 Crosstrek) - 8,000 kms

The second OEM I have cut open off this car. Pretty standard, all the blue paint fragments are from the cutter. 113k kms on the vehicle (2014 Crosstrek). Also changed the air filter (Fram CA9997) and replaced all four brake rotors and pads today.

    Fram CA9997

Comes off a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek, not sure the mileage on the filter. I have been taking care of the car for the last 16,000 kms (2 OCI's) so I'm guessing 24-32k kms if she kept to the 8k km OCIs. Doesn't look horrible. 113k kms on the car now. Replaced all four brake rotors and pads today as...

    Fram Extra CA7597

Replaced the old CA7597 off my Grandpa's 2007 Buick Rendezvous. The vehicle has 97,000kms on it. No idea how old this filter is or how much mileage.

    Liqui Moly Motor Oil Saver

I have this in the crankcase of my Toyota echo going on 4,000kms now. I wanted to use it to stop the top of dipstick oil usage, but it hasn't made a difference. I tried to keep the oil at the max level on the dipstick for a while but it appears it likes to sit just under, maybe 7/8 of the way...

[Cut Open] Magnefine with 23,000 miles

I like the idea of this for my older beater I hope to run forever. Do most people just splice it into the return line from the radiator?

    Cut Open - Mazda OEM BT115010-7600 @ 7,700kms (2016 CX-3)

I think just a reflection. This is an old thread so the filter is long gone but no issues were noticed at the time.

Service Champ Filter Cut Open ~10,000kms

My friend is not the least bit mechanically inclined. She said that she pays $90CDN at Jiffy for semi-synthetic along with this filter. I can pick up PP and Fram Ultra $45 CDN. Saves her money and I like to think this will prolong the engine life, but the way she treats her cars it might not...

Service Champ Filter Cut Open ~10,000kms

A couple more pics, the 2018 Ford Escape, 1.5L Ecoboost at least is not user friendly to get that filter out, especially not when the bear at Jiffy lube tightened the heck out of it. I couldn't fit a wrench in there and just took alot of grit and determination to get it off. Then oil drains all...

Service Champ Filter Cut Open ~10,000kms

This was off a friends 2018 Ford Escape, with just under 20,000kms on the vehicle (1.5L Ecoboost), she said she had her first oil change at the Jiffy Lube down the road OLM was at 20% and she thinks it was about 10,000kms ago. First off I mangled this filter, won't be winning any beauty...
