    UOA 2015 Golf TSI | Castrol Edge LL "K" SP @ 5,000mi

. EA888 3G engine. Castrol Edge but no Ti, some Boron instead, the common 79 ppm. Either way, exemplarily low wear. Al 3 ppm, Fe 9 ppm, Cu 1 ppm, Si 4 ppm. Excellent! Molybdenum of 12 ppm should be some leftover coming from your previous oil. .

    Fluid I.V. for filling

That's basically the process I use to use, in particular for gear oil: gravity. From above the engine bay. Just keep it clean, if necessary flush the tubing with the oil you want to use for your next job. I don't see adverse effects worth mentioning when done with some common sense. .

Oil selection for 2024 Audi RS 7

, True, the vast majority of VW 511 00 approved oils are 5W-40 flavour. Only four are 0W-40: M1 ESP X3, M1 ESP X4 and VW's and Audi's own offerings, more than likely XOM-made too. .

    Drilled/Slotted Rotors on a Truck?

Your rotors most probably aren't "warped". Either you suffer from pad deposits (only IF you happen to stop with VERY HOT brakes) or due to installation deficiencies. The latter is much more common. Time for a change. I'll explain later. Probably not the issue and it supports my supposition...

That little retaining screw in the brake disc?

Antiseize is generally a good idea for this application. However, removing that little retaining screw depends on the manufacturer. Last year I did my Mini Cooper's very first brake job after 12 years including winter use and lots of salt. I expected 'some' issues, but there aren't. Mini uses...

Please suggest a VW transmission fluid

. Yes, I noticed Castrol don't offer Transmax Manual V 75W-80 on both American and UK markets. I fairly understand the US is an "AT market", while the UK isn't. Don't ask me why. I'd bet roughly half if not more of the cars on British roads have a MT. Another option is Liqui Moly Top-Tec MTF...

Please suggest a VW transmission fluid

True unfortunately. Compared to which? Compared to 75W-90 GL-5? Not surprising. Obviously some kind of a copper strip corrosion test. Most of these appear to be GL-5 hypoid gear oils. Not actually helpful for this discussion. We're talking about GL-4 MTFs suitable for a Mk7 R and similar...

Please suggest a VW transmission fluid

I'm talking about the the production date and the OP's Mk7 R with its 02Q transmission. It at least applies to drivetrains built in Germany. Any Mk7 with the 02Q (2.0 TSI and 2.0 TDI with manual gearbox) came with VW G 052 527, while Mk5 and Mk6 with similar engines did come with VW G 052 171...

Rental review - '22 Jetta SE

Not correct. The UK market gets virtually the same offerings like any other European country. All GTI versions, Golf Alltrack, any Golf with 4WD, any Golf TDI from 150 HP up, not to mention Passat, Arteon, Tiguan, T-Roc etc or several Audi, Seat and Skoda with the same engines, what all come...

Please suggest a VW transmission fluid

The change from VW G 052 171 to G 052 527 has been happened in September 2012 since we're talking about the 02Q/MQ350 and the OP's Golf R Mk7. Yes, America uses to get new models a tad later . . . . AFAIK VW G 052 527 has been first introduced with the launch of the VW Up (of course not...

    New Ad from Castrol

. "Modern new look!"? Liqui Moly 1L/quart bottles actually look way better, way more 'modern' for decades. I still don't buy them. Apparently I'm too old. For me its content matters, not the jug. .

Mini cooper dipstick. How to read?

. (Peugeot designed) N12/N14/N16/N18 Mini engines came with the worst dipstick ever. Aftermarket options? Yes, they exist, but just marginally better. The cause/root is the S shaped dipstick tube. A Cravenspeed dipstick can't change that bloody tube. No news! No need to reinvent the wheel...

Should I look for different oil than M1 0w40?

. I'd use M1 ESP 5W-30 year round. Thinner near freezing as 0W-40 and almost same HTHS but lower VII and Noack loss. Swapping between viscosities will inevitably dilute the other weight. Maybe you happen to run a 0W-30ish brew actually . . . .
