You gotta get one of those spark plug sockets with the extension

I do own a Hazet 764 (for several decades), Hazet 2505-2 and Hazet 4766-1 (very similar to VAS 3122B) and a BERU branded bi-hex 14 mm made in Japan. When it comes to spark plugs I use my Hazet 5110-3CT 3/8" torque wrench and yes, finally, I love my Stahlwille locking extensions. 😘 .

    Cleaning up aluminum caliper.

. TRW BDA949 = BMW PN 34206780863 left and right, both the same, red only (cos JCW specific) https://www.autodoc.parts/trw/862003

Four tire options, which would you pick?

I'd consider get 195/55 R16 instead. Better choice and just marginal increase in overall diameter compared to 185/55 R16. .

    Cleaning up aluminum caliper.

. Just check the common vendors like ECS tuning, Pelican Parts etc.. On a side note: Ate, Brembo, Ferodo and many more use to sell remanufactured calipers including warranty. Granted, often not marginally cheaper compared to brand new calipers, but it widens the choice at least...

    Cleaning up aluminum caliper.

. Why even the effort? At 71 € each I'd just get new calipers: https://www.autodoc.parts/trw/861146 https://www.autodoc.parts/trw/2184205 TRW = OEM (all R55-R59 calipers came from TRW except for JCW on front) .

Motor Oil for 2024 Subaru BRZ

I'm sorry for OT, but I'd love to hear from you about how would you compare between Rav. MTF3 and your factory fluid (VW G 052 527). I think every VW 02Q/MQ350 type transmission's Achilles' heel is 2nd gear in particular when cold. Better with MTF3 or worse? .

    Haldex + Redline MT-LV GL4?

IMHO the weakest point is a clutch bathed by oil and to contaminate the oil without a real oil filter. That tiny plastic screen isn't able to help much. .

    Haldex + Redline MT-LV GL4?

I agree with both points and it includes Mk7/Mk8 GTIs and GLIs with the VAQ diff since this electro-hydraulic actuated multi-clutch thing has the exact same Haldex unit. .

    Haldex + Redline MT-LV GL4?

I don't have any questions anymore, obvious what to use. I too have one bottle AWD-H sitting in the basement. .

    Renault rn720 - switching to 5w-40

. I'd keep running C3 oil too. 5W-30 or 0W/5W-40 doesn't matter much if any. One pro for 5W-30 compared to 0W/5W-40: Less VI improvers. Most 5W-30 tend to stay in grade longer/better. MB 228.51 and 229.52, BMW LL-04, VW 507 00 or 511 00, Porsche C30/C40. They're all extreme stout. More than...

Why does my car overheat when the ac is on during winter -26 deg celsius?

Very most probably your car doesn't "overheat" and your gauge appear to have a range for an acceptable operating temperature, not one single point. See your owners manual. .

    Mobil 1 FS 5W50 4.5k mi; 2017 Porsche 911 3.0L Twin Turbo 6 cyl 27k mi

I agree, that oil did its job since wear metals are low. Nevertheless M1 FS 5W-50 doesn't stay in grade (again). Min 16.3 cSt vs 13,6 cSt provided we'd believe BS or even if we don't trust BS. That difference is huge. .

    Haldex + Redline MT-LV GL4?

Haldex clutches are "similar enough" to synchronizers (brass or carbon lined)? Anyone may believe/think/guess/assume whatever he likes. I still prefer to use some dedicated fluid exactly for that purpose. My Haldex unit is too expensive to experiment with. It's not just about to ruin it. The...

    Haldex + Redline MT-LV GL4?

. I wouldn't run Motul Gear 300 75W-90 API GL-4 & GL-5 (> EP) in a Haldex unit. Never ever. That said I'm still not convinced with Redline MT-LV. Haldex units are not MTs. Granted, I have no issues to obtain VW G 055 175, Ravenol AWD-H, Liqui Moly's offering or BorgWarner/Haldex's own fluid. .

Why do you put your wipers up before it snows?

That's just the NA market. In northern central Europe every third or so Golf has a heated windshield (despite as an option), every second Ford. In the Scandinavian countries ever more. Not just luxury or electric vehicles like in America. .

    2018 VW GOLF-R

. I'd say Fe 40 ppm is somewhat "slightly elevated". So now we finally know what's to be expected when you run VW 508 00 instead of VW 504 00 on an R engine. Thanks for the insight. 🙃 .

    Jetta Sportwagen Coolant

I've never seen anything like "M4.0" on anything VW. This Sportwagen should've come with VW G12++ or G13 from the factory, both pink/purple. You could use VW G12++, G13 or G12evo (the latest, still compatible). That said, if I had to add a neglibible amount I'd just add destilled water. A tiny...

    New tires = worse MPG?

Six months ago, so before autumn and winter season thereafter. Temperature is one of the key factors plainly. Like stated several times, more tread will result in more flexing (incl. better ride comfort), so higher rolling resistance. The taller diameter is true too, but that's clearly...
