HYPER low mi/short trips: conventional or synth?

In theory yes, but in practice the hybrid would be much more expensive to own in the long run. I'd never make back the initial price jump since I'm not really buying hardly any gas in the first place.

Complete noob question: best place to buy FAQ?

There isn't a walmart really all that close to me (and I have moral issues buying anything from them anyway). There's at least one autozone within 10 miles. What other places besides gas stations sell oil these days? Are there any online sites that specialize in oil or is amazon the main go-to...

HYPER low mi/short trips: conventional or synth?

Ok, fair enough. I'm pretty out of the loop so I know I'm working off old info. I guess 0w-40 sounds like the best bet. Thanks.

Complete noob question: best place to buy FAQ?

This is the world's worst noob question, hopefully it's not against the rules. I have not bought my own oil in AGES, like, before online ordering was a thing. I have absolutely no idea where to start, what brands/websites/stores are reputable these days, or what typical prices are. Is there a...

HYPER low mi/short trips: conventional or synth?

I was under the impression that the wider the "range" on the oil the more expensive it was and that swapping between two "narrower" versions (like 0w-30 vs 5w-40) would be slightly cheaper year over year. Although honestly I don't even know where to buy these days, or what prices are good. The...

HYPER low mi/short trips: conventional or synth?

So it's looking like 2 to 1 in favor of synthetic. (I was hoping everyone said the exactly same thing but I guess that's good enough Anyone else have thoughts about the particular weight? If I were to change it twice a year, which two weights should I swap between?

There's nothing on the underside of the cap (except a thin film of oil)

HYPER low mi/short trips: conventional or synth?

So, I looked again but I don't see anything in the books about different schedules for normal/severe/etc, just the single disclaimer about at least 75000/12months. The closest anything I can find is that the books say it needs ILSAC GF-3, API SL, or ACEA A1/B1. Normal is conventional 5W-30, but...

HYPER low mi/short trips: conventional or synth?

Hmmm... is once a year really often enough? I know the miles are low but I feel like that's asking for trouble. My mechanic said he doesn't trust leaving the same oil in that long, even considering the mileage. As for the battery, yeah that is something I have to worry about. I've gotten low...

HYPER low mi/short trips: conventional or synth?

I'm not sure full synthetic is strictly necessary just because I have a turbo... I mean it was a non-optional factory install and the manual says to use conventional, I assume if synthetic was a requirement for it they'd say so. I'm more wondering if synthetic has any properties that might help...

HYPER low mi/short trips: conventional or synth?

(The full title of this post is supposed to be "ULTRA HYPER low mileage + short-trips car: should I use conventional or synthetic oil? Does it matter?" but I can't fit all that in the subject line) I live in a northern state area with zero public transportation, so I need a car. However, I work...
