    Amsoil AME 15W40, 14K, 04 Duramax 202K

On the oil I've been running in the 20-22K range with the longest at 25K, while the AT interval keeps climbing and was just changed at 70K (Blackstone analysis pending). Transfer case is going 60K and climbing, and diffs are at 60K as well. I've been taking it slow as I'm still relatively new to...

Will check the rest of the hoses to see. Installed a new air intake system from Spectre performance last night. Hopefully that shows some improved trends in silicon during the next oil change, otherwise it probably wasn't coming from the old air system...

She wants to keep this one for a while, and the trend of metals is higher than what I'd like to see. I'm going to buy a cold air intake tonight that replaces all of the tubing as well and hopefully start to see a trend of lower silicon/mile...

That's the great thing about numbers, they don't lie or play favorites. I don't think anything can be disputed regarding ROI in your comments above. Appreciate all the info, as always! I haven't done a lot of looking for DINO on sale, so will defer to you on that. My quick search was at...

    Amsoil AME 15W40, 14K, 04 Duramax 202K

DNewton3, As always great info and analysis. I should clarify one point though, this latest sample of ~13K miles was a full year of service with the truck. While it's true my daily commute has been drastically reduced, there are still quite a few other drives the truck gets to see. Only my...

    Amsoil AME 15W40, 14K, 04 Duramax 202K

I've been running the Amsoil EA filters on it since I converted over to their oil. Agree with the particle streak, based on the previous history I'm not too worried about the one time jump to 5ppm last OCI. We had recently moved and so it went from having a 60 mile daily commute (all highway)...

    Amsoil 0w40, 84hrs, 05' BF 750 ATV

During hunting season it's running around in the woods. During spring/summer it's doing low speeds with a spray tank strapped to the back and putting out fertilizer. It also gets hooked up and used to move trailers around, typically in the 1K lb range. And then there is an occasional trip to the...

Agreed. If it were coming from sealants, I would have assumed it would come down since we purchased the vehicle over 100K miles ago. So far that hasn't been the trend. Coupled with the MAF sensor being triggered, my assumption is that its dirt getting into the system.

    Amsoil ASL 5w30, 9K, 04 Chevy Tahoe, 215K

I still can't find where the silicon is coming from. As mentioned in all previous posts, we do get the occasional MAF code thrown. So far I've gone from K&N, to Wix, and even Amsoil air filters. I've also replaced the air box itself, cleaned the MAF multiple times, and gone through the entire...

    Amsoil SVG 75W90, 50K, 04 Duramax 196K

Your posts were spot on. I was highlighting the previous posters regarding the 'worthless' first uoa, and claims that the lead must have been from high mileage.

Bad assumptions on the Valvoline and mileage. That was my 3rd fill with Valvoline Syn gear oil, bought the truck at 46K and had all fluids changed. Did another OCI at 76K. This was the 3rd and first time I did an analysis.

    Amsoil SS 5w30, 10K, 04 Chevy Tahoe, 206K

I'm paying $7.89/QT for the Amsoil SS line. I'm less worried about saving money on the oil and more concerned about why the silicon is high and the MAF is tripping 1-2 times per OCI. A new engine will more than make up for any savings by making an oil vendor switch at this point. With silicon...

    Amsoil SS 5w30, 10K, 04 Chevy Tahoe, 206K

addguy, overall the metals actually look really good. Lead is the one exception. I tend to agree with Blackstone that if the silicon was really abrasive dirt, the wear metals would be higher. I'm not 100% sold on that theory though, thus the reason I was asking thoughts regarding switching out...

    Amsoil SS 5w30, 10K, 04 Chevy Tahoe, 206K

Hadn't thought of it not really being lead, guess that could be an option. I've used the same oil for a while, if the last 2 or 3 were consistent I would think it would be more likely. The fact that I've gone one OCI in between and lead improved, I'm not so sure.

I mean the vehicle threw a DTC to check the MAF sensor.
