Post pictures of unique flavors of processed snack foods

This used to be part of the annual 'Holiday Pack' that Jones soda put out. Once was too many times.

    Post your latest oil change

2020 Mazda CX5 Grand Touring 2.5L I4 40041 miles, 5028 on this OCI. Out: Dealer Bulk Mobil 1 0w20, Mazda MV line filter In: Dealer bulk Mobil 1 0w20, Mazda MV line filter This was the last of my pre-paid oil changes (and rotations). It was the first OCI in a long time that I hit mileage...

    2019 Mazda 2.5L n/a - pics inside valve cover

Depending on the feature set, the reminder screen is very annoying; shows up every time you start the car. If I wasn't already a poster here it would definitely annoy me into getting the oil change done every 5k. (Or learning how to reset the screen myself. ;) )

    2019 Mazda 2.5L n/a - pics inside valve cover

If you're curious about the internals, the YouTube channel 'I do cars' did a teardown on a low-mileage 2.5L. I was excited he finally got one; I've been curious about the internals of my CX5 since I bought it in 2020. I'm not surprised that the internals look clean through the fill hole, they...

    Post your latest brake job

2020 Mazda CX5 Grand Touring 40k miles, 40k miles on old rear pads/rotors. They were worn down to 1-2mm; I guess I got my 'money's worth' from the factory set. Off: Factory Mazda Pads/Rotors On: Duralast Gold Pads (DG1846)/Mazda Rotors A brake fluid flush was also performed as my CX5 is...

    Post your latest brake job

Mazda CX5 for sure, and IIRC, my Kia Sorento also. Going back, my 2003 Jaguar X-Type was the first vehicle I experienced this with, rear brakes needed to be replaced at around 30k miles. I just had the rears done on my CX5 at 40k miles; the front pads are still at 7-8mm.

Zevo Bug trap system; what's your experience?

I've had one in my kitchen, where the door to the backyard is the most common bug entry point, and it works great. Flies, moths, and, to some degree, mosquitos are all attracted to the blue light and get trapped. It also doubles as a nightlight for me in the kitchen. If you're willing to wait...

Post your latest engine/cabin air filter change

2020 Mazda CX5 Grand Touring 2.5L 39600 total miles. Out: 2 year/~20k miles (approx) OEM air filter (last changed 5/2022) In: ECOGARD XA6280 Premium Air filter Air in the STL area gets lots of crap in it, as the filter seems to show. I'm tempted to extend the next change to 30k but the Ecogard...

Post your Gas Mileage : Calculated

Here's the most recent re-fill, lots of highway driving on this one. 7/6: 234 Miles / 7.671 gallons = 30.5MPG—Solid; most driving was on STL area highways during the July 4th holiday week at 70-80mph with the AC on and at least one passenger. Prior full fill on 7/4: 271 miles / 10.839 gallons...

    Micron Air : Unknown age

With the filter that loaded up I'll bet airflow will be improved! Yuck.

What is your standard OCI interval?

My CX-5 gets 5k intervals (it averages out) and a tire rotation each time, though the current OCI is getting changed by mid-Oct. Whether or not I'm at ~5k, I need to use up my last pre-paid dealer OCI; after that, we'll see what I decide to do.

    P0597 in Kia Telluride

It isn't just Kia. Mazda switched to what they call a 'coolant control valve.' From a quick Google search, it seems Tellurides (and probably Pallisades) use something similar.

    How are Ecogard air filters?

Probably what I'll use the next time I swap the engine filter for my 2020 CX5, though that won't be for at least another 10k miles.

Closest equivalent to Mazda's Type FL22 Coolant?

I'd refill the reservoir with Zerex Asian Green (matches whats in my CX5) if it's easy for you to find, or have it go back to the dealer for top-off. I used Zerex to refill the reservoir in my CX-5 with it a couple of thousand miles ago, and all is well.

Post your Gas Mileage : Calculated

I thought I'd post an update. I do a random mix (which varies wildly from week to week) of highway and city driving weekly. 2020 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring 2.5L 36700-ish miles. Continental CrossContact LX25 tires (if anyone is curious) Best calculated via Fuelly: 32.2mpg (during a road trip)...

How accurate is the indicated MPG in your vehicle?

Heh. That's the opposite of my CX-5, which is almost always overly optimistic. Its most recent track for the tank was off by something like +3mpg. The random mixture of city and highway driving I tend to do throws mine out of whack, or at least that's my impression.

There is no need to go factory unless it is cheaper than other options for cabin air filters.
