Are some wire backed Fram ultras being clearances out?

Was just at my 2 local Walmarts...I honestly dont think they would clearance them because I dont think the UPCs changed. So "they" are probably blissfully ignorant as to whats actually inside the box. I found a bunch of wire-backed XG2, but someone in another thread mentioned the XG2 might not...

    New Quaker State Ultimate Protection

I agree! I told myself if I were to buy an extended warranty, it would only be through Mopar. When it came down to it, my miles-per-year kinda dictated either the Lifetime plan or none at all (About 6K miles per year, the year/mileage extended warranties would run out of time LONG before the...

    2019 Ram 1500 5.7 "Extended" Oil Changes

Interesting. I have a 2017 with the Hemi and can get the bigger filter in without much issue. FWIW I go from the front of the truck with the new filter, the only thing that comes close to interfering are the hard A/C lines, but a little twisting and turning I can get around them, and then the...

Fram Endurance - synthetic and wire backed

That might make sense...I hit up another Walmart today and checked 3 of the 5 they had there...all look wire backed so either Im "reading" them wrong, they are all old stock, or they indeed did not change it. Wonder if they changed only on smaller diameter filters?

Mag-Moss covers us for factory warranties. If the lifters/cams on my Hemi go kaput during the factory warranty, they need to prove the oil and/or filter was the reason. Granted, they have more $$ and better lawyers than I do, so if they really pressed the issue I might be SOL, regardless of if I...

    AWD/4WD Explained

Agreed. Ive never owned a vehicle that could completely disable traction control (without pulling fuses, anyway). I don't need it to save me from myself, Ive driven plenty of vehicles with no ABS, no traction control system, etc and can continue to do so if they would just make them that way...

School me on Ceramic wash and coats

90% of how a coating works out is in the prep. And if it was a "dealer installed" thing, they didnt coat it with anything. Ive paid to have a few vehicles coated with pro-level products (I cant buy them myself) and the stuff lasted and lasted and lasted. It wasnt cheap, and it took even a pro a...

School me on Ceramic wash and coats

I need to coat 2 of our vehicles this spring. Ive always believed in actual coatings (using them since before spray on "coatings" or "ceramics" were even a thing) Last time I used 22PLE HPC, its lasted quite well, so long that plenty of other products have come out in the time since I applied...

    AWD/4WD Explained

The funny thing is the xfer case itself is pretty beefy. And those who have the "workaround switch" have been using it for years fully locked and never an issue...but, they know when and when not to have 4WD engaged. Just gives evidence to the idea that stuff like this exists because people...

    AWD/4WD Explained

True. We can leave it in 2WD, though, so its not always on. The system has 2WD, 4-Auto, 4-Lock and 4-Low. 4-Auto and 4-Low do what they say, but 4-Lock acts pretty much the same as 4-Auto because of the crappy programming. If 4-Lock actually locked the truck in 4WD, it would be much better.

    AWD/4WD Explained

The AWD setup in my G37 is actually quite good. AFAIK it runs as 100% RWD (or 99%/1%) until the front wheels slip, at which point a pump transfers fluid under high pressure to the front diff to engage it. Computer samples at 10 times per second. Its basically the system from the previous...

Fram Endurance - synthetic and wire backed

Yeah I saw one yesterday myself. The louvers remind me of the Mopar SRT filter (for Viper, etc). I also had a Royal Purple 20-820 that had the louvers (which was odd because the other 3 I bought had the standard round holed center tubes) Oddly enough I think I stumbled on some OG Ultras in the...

    AWD/4WD Explained

The "4wd" in my RAM 1500 begs to differ :) It uses clutches and a ball/ramp setup to engage them with an encoder motor to apply varying levels of pressure based on what the various computers *think* you need. The funny thing is, the hardware is stout and could last a very long time (even the...

Briggs I/C 7HP Tiller Engine CHOKE! Help please.

Fram Synthetic Endurance FE8A Cut Open

Totally get it! I think my being anal about getting every drop of oil out did not outweigh my laziness :) because I never bothered to test the theory (drain using the MityVac, then pull the drain plug and see if/how much else comes out) I dont regret the purchase, Ive used it for other things...

Latest Fram Ultra Synthetic oil filter as of 2023 January - Is it still a good choice?

I picked up 3 XG2 today, 2 are date code A23141 the other is date code A21801 Was surprised, it looks like all 3 of them have pink media and wire behind the center tube holes. The A23141 ones are 2022, day 314? Which is November 10. There is actually one more that I left on the shelf, I might...

Fram Synthetic Endurance FE8A Cut Open

I bought the 7201, but never really believed it to do a great job...I dont have any top mounted filters though. Shoving the tube down the dipstick I always questioned if it left stuff over, so I stopped using it on cars (at least for oil and trans fluid). It did come in handy, though, when I...

Nostalgia time - computer games from your youth

For multi-player...Unreal Tournament '99 FTW! '04 isnt bad but the OG still wins IMHO. Started PC gaming with my first PC in 1984. Back then it was Where In the World is Carmen Sandiego :) As I got older, moved on to Wolfenstein 3d (remember the freeware levels?), Police Quest, Star Wars...
