Though that might be true, Motorcraft produces excellent UOAs in my GT350R. I've not found a reason to switch to other oils that meet (or claim to exceed) the spec e.g. Lucas and Amsoil.

2016 Volvo XC90 with 76,5XX miles. As posted elsewhere, it started to consume oil a few K miles ago. I added a can of BG EPR, ran it for 20 minutes at 1200 RPM, the changed the oil and filter. In went Mobil 1 5W30 High Mileage and a Wix filter. Hopefully the oil consumption improves.

It’s official. I’ve run BG EPR in the engine for ~20 minutes and drained the oil. I know oil color doesn’t mean much, but boy was that oil black. I spilled a little on the white and gray epoxy floors and it was still pitch black. Maybe it doesn’t mean anything, but pouring in fresh, golden oil...

I’ve decided to give this a shot after reading a LOT about this stuff. Thanks for the recommendation. My plan is to use the BG EPR, then drain and replace the oil with Castrol EDGE High Mileage, or something else that y’all recommend.

Update: I’ve consumed about 1.8 quarts in the last 6000 miles. This is B.S.

Ha! Thanks for all the interest! I've had the GT350R since 7/1/2016. It's the only car I haven't gotten bored of after a year or two. Here's some pictures from Circuit of the Americas in Austin. I've also had it at Utah Motorsports Campus and MSR Houston.
