New Zero Turn 60 to 72 " cut

Just a data point, I have an Ariens Apex 60 inch zero turn. Has the Kawasaki engine and relatively heavy duty transaxles (ZT-3100). Been problem free for going on 6 years now, with about 80 hours per year mowing. Nice heavy 11 ga steel fabricated deck. It is the same as the lower level Gravely...

    Kohler oil filter new design?

I also use the PH3614 size or equivalent also on two riding mowers (Kohler 15 hp single, and B&S 18hp twin) that I maintain. Current stash are Luber-Finer brand I got cheap. Coincidentally this size also fits my Kawasaki 26 hp twin zero turn. Slightly longer length does not cause interference...

Exmark 708 cc Front Steer ZT... CP.

Not defending or inferring anything about the engine, just a comment that the engine is typically running under much lower than full power. A lot of mowers are run at max governor rpm, to get blade speed, and the engine is generally light throttle until it senses a larger load. I doubt it spends...

Post your latest differential oil/transfer case change

2004 F-150, 8.8 rear, 189K miles. Out with unknown, at least it was not original fill, quite dark and in need of changing out. In with 75W-140 Supertech synthetic. Approx 2.75 qts.

    Oil and spark plugs

I use 15W-40 diesel oil (HDEO) in my 68 GTO 400 engine. I have some old stock Rotella T4 that has the higher zinc to help keep the cam and lifters happy. GTO is only driven in warmer nice weather, so the 15W is just fine. I agree that any 10W-30 or 10W-40 is probably just fine as well. Using an...

1997 Silverado trans fluid change advice

You can get a drain plug kit for around $10 and add a drain plug to your current pan. Way cheaper than a new pan. Just drill a 1/2 inch hole and the drain plug kit bolts in. It has a large bolt, with a small drain bolt that threads into the larger bolt, which is what you install into the pan...

Should I change belt on zero turn mower?

I just ordered cheap and keep a spare set of belts for my zero turn, but don't change them unless they break or get damaged. Which has not happened yet in 5 years and 250-ish hours. IF a belt should break when mowing, I have the replacement ready to go, instead of paying high price and causing a...

    Filter cutters

Thanks for the tip. Just ordered one, currently has a 5% discount, so price comes out to be $26.75 - $1.34 = $25.41 before tax.

My Poor, Innocent Jetta. Totaled or Not? You Be the Judge.

I suspect it will be a total. Mostly because of needing panel replacements, likely underbody damage and suspension pieces replacement. Labor is expensive and I see a lot of hours in that. Plus add in that ins companies can total a vehicle when it gets near 80% or more of value, since now they...

Oil change interval with low mileage

Being stored inside, the cars are not as subject to condensation cycles from the cold. You are fine going 2 or even more years on those IMHO. I have several old vehicles and none get annual oil changes, some go 3-4 years; I basically go on mileage depending on engine condition. All stored...

    Not Changing Oil Filter

I would just do 2 year oil and filter changes, that's still only 2000 miles. If the car is kept in temp controlled garage, it could possibly go even longer, but it sounds like most of the miles are probably short in-town trips. So 2000 miles is still conservative.

Here's a question for the Oil Gurus

I have several old cars. None of them get 5K miles per year, or whatever interval you change a newer car oil at. They stay inside a temp controlled environment. I change them based on miles, whatever is appropriate for the engine. Your plan is fine assuming the Corvette is stored inside.

    Older car with lower mileage

Looks like a great car to me. Plus chances are the previous old lady owner did have decent maintenance performed, probably at the dealer or same local shop. I agree with the rest, just run some synthetic 5w-20 or 5w-30 oil, no need for in-between filter changes. High mile oil not really needed...

    Rat Rod

It's a 48-52 Ford truck cab, chopped top probably about 4-5 inches. That view can't see if 48-50 or 51-52, but basic cab is the same shape.

New to me 2018 Buick Regal Tour-X Essense

I always thought those looked good for a wagon profile. Does the back seat and rear area have pretty decent room? Nice to hear the car rides nice on the highway and you are happy with it.

Can i use lawn mower oil in car engine?

Just curious, I did not look up the specific details of the garden oil, is this a detergent or non-detergent oil? Many of the small engines use non-detergent oils. On a frequent enough OCI in a car engine it probably is OK, but I think detergent oils are a much better choice. Also agree that...

What mower to buy for 2 acres?

Zero turn is much faster and better cutting. Just don't bag it, let it fly out the side exit opening. Kind of mulching, to do true mulching you can buy an official mulching kit that blocks off the side exit. I made my own block off and do the mulching in fall with the leaves. Works pretty good...

MKS water pump failure... bummer dude

The big issue on the OP's subject car is whether the bearings are OK or if they are too damaged. That's the risk and unknown. The fact it overheated means a lot of coolant was lost inside the engine. That's a bad sign indicating potential for bearing damage. Sad that a vehicle with otherwise...

Investing Strategies. What is your move?

Long term money (10+ years out) should be 100% equities, preferably low fee widely diversified funds. Such as S&P500, Total Market US, Total Market Ex-US, NASDAQ, Russell 2000 or 3000. Medium term money 3-10 years should still be 70% range equities and 30% fixed income side, again utilizing...
