Used HIgh Mileage oil in my low mileage vehicle, am I causing damage?

Poster is referring to a product called AT205. It is added to your oil and reconditions seals. But no, it won't swell them or damage seals in any way. I've used it for years and is basically the only Mechanic in a Can I use/trust (with limited scope of course)

    Post your latest oil change

00 suburban 5.3 vortec 227k miles 5w30 supertec Fram TG Couple oz of AT205 Oil was changed after ~2k miles due to daily short trips under 2 miles. No oil was added during that time (since I started using AT205 a couple years ago actually) Did have to add a bit of brake fluid though.

Is there a "best" oil for timing parts longevity in Ford's 2nd Gen Coyote?

My 2nd gen coyote mustang has had 5w20 up until 85k miles. No mechanical noises or anything but I did switch to 5w30 at that point. My car seems to run just a hair quieter on Penzoil platinum but that might just be in my head A lot of people sees by Ceratec to quiet down the engine but I have...

Can you build a small-block V8 faster than a high school kid?

Yeah, but that isn't what's going on here.

Another article showing concern in the housing market- yet the author may have lacked critical thinking

People bought up houses during a boom. Now they are buying fewer homes. Not really a huge story to break here, imo. Typical boom and bust cycle, basically

Can you build a small-block V8 faster than a high school kid?

17 minutes is impressive and not that I'm trying to take anything away from the kid but this seems more like a parlor trick than anything else. Pretty neat though.

EV sales rise in California bucking claims of dwindling demand

So if EV sales are down overall yet have increased in CA (due to pending legislation imagine least in some part) then that demonstrates how little actual demand there really is for EV. I have no personal hangup with EV other than cost, range, and charge time which will all be sorted out in...

    Helmet sizing

You'll find different helmets have different ear pockets. There are some brands i can't wear bc of this. Scorpion was one of them , iirc. Ear pockets don't really break in, either. It will bother you forever if it's bad enough

    Helmet sizing

Different helmet brands and models have different shapes and sizes. Your best option is to try on a bunch of different helmets to feel what fits best. Overall, you want a tight fitting helmet. Generally, your cheeks should look like a chipmunk and your helmet should NOT MOVE on your head even...

0w-20 oil at Kia dealer vs M1/PUP

I have no idea why the fact it's $20 is ruffling so many feathers. Probably 2/3 of dealers in my area offer free oil changes for 1-3 years when you purchase a new vehicle. Oil changes at dealerships are often a loss leader. That, and the oil they buy in those 55 gallon drums is inexpensive.

    Pending UPS strike...

They earn way more than most people with physical jobs. I hate unions, though. Truly detest them if I'm honest. I have had too much experience working with union guys and all the BS amd red tape to go through just to get a job done. In my area UPS drivers earn more than many doctors. It is...

RockAuto Spark plugs legit or counterfeited?

Agreed. I received fake Honda OEM parts from Ebay. First and last time I will ever buy from ebay for car parts. Inhave also seen a few bad parts right out of the box from AZ. But that isn't as much am AZ issue as a manufacturing one

Rock auto has its problems. Counterfeit parts aren't one of them

    Pending UPS strike...

For $120k a year and their benefits I (and tons of others) are willing and ready to sign up. I work in management and much of my time is spent in a warehouse that gets well over 100 degrees all summer and I still don't make as much as my UPS driver. I also used to have to drive a truck wirh no...

    Pending UPS strike...

Those PT guys are all over the facilities and they very often get cut after a while and UPS has no intention on bringing those guys into the union due to cost. From what I've seen in our area it is dang near impossible to work up from PT to FT.

    Pending UPS strike...

UPS is my favorite courier. That said, these FT guys make 6 figures and get pretty darn good benefits. I worked for them for a while and realized immediately that they hire a whole bunch of Temps constantly to avoid having to put those guys in a union. Many are seasonal and work every year PT...

How is the ford 3.5L V6 - Natural Aspirated F150 engines

No personal experience but I see several of them in my area with around 200k miles. They do have some water pump problems if I recall

Another McDonald's hot food burn lawsuit.

The original coffe lawsuit we have all heard of had merit. The coffee was hot enough to give a lady 2nd or 3rd degree burns and required surgery to remedy. This one seems similar in the sense that a hot nugget got stuck between the child's leg and the car seat which resulted in 2nd degree burns.

    Opinions on 2014 Chevy Traverse

Thing is....it's a numbers game. Far more people have had those issues with GM than have had a Honda timing belt break (assuming it didn't have like 200k miles on the belt). My biggest personal gripe is that it seems Ike almost all of these newer cars are becoming less reliable and far more...
