Another member posted that it is also a problem with Ford 6.0 and 6.4 Diesel engines. Apparently, it is documented on the computers at Ford dealers. I've asked for a more complete description of the problem.
In a discussion of oil filter styles for the MazdaSpeed6, some people are switching from the cartridge style to a spin on style. I stated how I liked the cartridge style and didn't see any reason to switch. This was a response that made me a bit curious:

I started a thread about it last week, but a tech at a local oil change place (Kwik Kar) told a customer that he didn't recommend Pennzoil because "it has wax in it".
I service my own vehicles, but this was a fleet car and they paid for the oil change.
If he was there when I walked in, I would have been sure to ask for Pennzoil. My vehiclew was already in the bay when he said this. Alas, it is a fleet vehicle so it's not my concern. I do my own oil changes and moments like today will keep me doing so.

I have yet to see any reports of synthetic oil causing problems with turbo seals. Usually the smoking occurs after the owner installs an aftermarket downpipe.

I can see all the import haters using this recall to say how Toyota quality isn't that good. They even blame the media for not covering it enough as part of the grand scheme to go against American car makers.
I bought a digital charger from Sears last year. It is microprocessor controlled, has variable charge rates and handles all battery types including the AGM ones. I think it was $80 or so, but it was worth it so far.
