Which oil would you choose? Seeing specs only

Mobil ESP 5w-30. For your engine, performance at 120 C is more relevant than at 100 C. Don't get sidetracked by the punters that worship miles between regens. Most regen strategies are driven by soot load OR running hours since last regen, whichever comes first. If your average MPH is low...

3/4 Ton Gas vs Diesel vs Tundra

Once you have an extra vehicle in your fleet, you will never go back. Get a beater for daily use. Find a 5.7 tundra of your dreams (or a 3/4 ton tow pig) and then make it last forever by only using it for truck stuff. Don't force a tow pig into a "one size fits all" use case.

    2025 Mobil 1 Rebate

I got the two rebate emails today. One for $10 and one for $15. It's a confusing system but $25 makes it half price on two jugs, so I guess I played the game and got the prize.

    What Constitutes a true BITOGer

I dunno. I feel like I see lots of posts along the lines of: -What oil should I tell my mechanic to use? -I gathered all these good oil/filter/parts for my mechanic to put in this weekend. Is it the best? -Amsoil recommendation = certification but my $22 LED headlight toys from Amazon...

    2015 Ford F-250 PSD 158.6k mi; Rotella T6 5W-40 5.3k mi

In theory, a HPFP could leak out the shaft seal and into the crankcase. I'm just not sure I've ever heard of it. Any other leak paths would be external. 2015 had no "indirect" injector, so regens contribute to fuel dilution. Maybe your <1 sample was an error, or perhaps you ran it good and...

Installed PPE Diff Cover on my 24 Sierra 1500

Aluminum has ~5x the conductivity of steel. Yet, cast covers are >5x thicker than a stamped steel cover. So...moot. But having a drain plug can be nice.

Do I have to change my coolant?

Is this the same Honda has a published/approved TSB procedure for flushing heater cores using CLR? If so, one might argue that their prescribed coolant change interval isn't sufficient.

    options for undercarriage rust protection?

Similar to you we only have a few salt/brine events a year. I can keep things pretty reasonable with an annual "touchup" on each vehicle. I mostly avoid driving the truck during the winter and certainly during rain following a salt/brine event, until we've had enough rain to clean the roads...

How large combo wrenches do shade tree mechanics have

I have up to 1-5/16 and 27mm. Sometimes the 20" adjustable wrench comes in handy. I think it was $20 on amazon.

    Backing into parking spaces

Because it's funny to make a joke about on a forum. It's not like anybody is following reasonable traffic rules at walmart anyway.

    Backing into parking spaces

If you're more likely to need to get under the hood (broke down or jump start) than to need your trunk, it makes obvious sense to back in. My employer requires it in our parking lot. The french "parent company" says it's for speedy exit in case of emergency. Nevermind that our 800 car lot has...

oil filter change interval for 7.3L PSD?

Given the headache of HPOP and injectors, why push things on a recreational use irreplaceable truck? Use good oil. Use good filters (not docs.) There are other good-to-great filters out there. If the motorcraft price is not tolerable, why not consider: Fleetguard Stratopore (LF3974?)...

Wife's assessment when the Wife dies before the Husband

To counter pop culture articles that sound nice on the basis of confirmation bias, I suggest a related article on the law of averages. This one has "law" in the name and is accepted amongst mathematicians. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_averages

Wife's assessment when the Wife dies before the Husband

A complex actuarial study is not needed. One average is less than the other.
