Alternator for a 1999 Chevy Lumina

Hey guys. I went to replace the battery in my 1999 Lumina today with about 108,000 miles. I decided to take it to AutoZone and have the alternator tested as well because of the age and mileage. It tested bad, so my question is which brand is the best for a replacement part of this unit? I have...

If a vehicle sits for about six months...

Update: Looked at the engine and there is a hole in the block. What would cause this to happen? Now, I must decide whether to go remanufactured or rebuilt. Any suggestions?

It's the 4 cyl 2.3. According to the link that was provided, it is a non interference engine.

Barkleymut, It lost all power on the freeway and had to be towed home. It will be looked at tomorrow morning by our mechanic who we trust to give a better idea of what happened. I had a Camry that did the exact same things and it was the engine. Roadking, the oil level was correct. I should have...

Do you need an oil change? I would think not but I thought I'd ask here. My nephew has a 2004 Ford Ranger that the engine locked up. He was out of work for a while so the truck did a lot of sitting. When he got back into the work force he didn't change the oil right away since the mileage wasn't...

My 2009 HHR had a recall for this same issue. I believe the Cobalt did as well.

    4 banger S-10 oil recommendations

Sorry I didn't mention it. It's the 2.5 4 cylinder Iron Duke, mated with a 5 speed manual. It's not amazingly fast, but my Father in Law says it has more power then the 2012 Tacoma he bought to replace it.

    4 banger S-10 oil recommendations

Hi everyone! New guy here. I recently got a new used 1991 S-10 (for free!) with 178,000 miles. The previous owner, my Father in Law, always ran Quaker State dyno in it and the truck has never given him a bit of trouble. I am tempted to stick with that since it seems to have worked well so far...
