Who else doesn't use tire dressings?

I use some matte tire coating stuff on motorcycle tire sidewalls. Very carefully, and sparingly - applied by hand. It seems that the dirt doesn't stick as much, and the whitewalls are much easier to clean. Our automobiles tires simply get scrubbed.

    Speeding ticket

I haven't had a speeding ticket in a dozen years, but my time is coming. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: They have to give out speeding tickets, else it would be crazy out there.

    Lots of counterfeit stuff lately.

A friend of mine works as a purchasing agent in a large aerospace company. He says that they have a serious issue with counterfeit parts, right down to the smallest o-rings.

    Why I hate STIHL Ultra

Huh. I've been using ethanol-laced pump 87 octane and Stihl 2-cycle oil for many many years. Weedeaters, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and occasionally in my little Yamaha generator. Stihl doubles your warranty on new purchases - if you buy a six-pack of their oil. So far, so good.

GEICO is Terminating Insurance Coverage of Tesla Cybertrucks

Slightly off-topic, but I was looking at the cost of new vehicles, in general. I called my insurance company and increased my coverage. I mean, what if I accidentally totaled out somebody's $100,000 SUV ? Or two, in a pile up ?

    Sub Inflation

Got a Hardee's bacon, egg, and cheese english muffin. It was so small that it was laughable. Five bucks worth, and about three bites. And, the quality has diminished. It had the taste and texture of something that came off the Motel 6 continental breakfast offering.

Grease for needle bearings, very confused...

Belray waterproof grease is a decent grease for that application. Dirt bikes are hard on swingarm bearings, and from your description, there's some amount of moisture infiltration. Rough service. Are these the original bearings ? If they're replacements, then bearing quality might be a...

    Cleaning and lubricating hedge trimmer

We've had an el cheapo corded Black & Decker for the past 30 years. It gets sharpened about once a year, and gets lubed with whatever oil concoction that's in the pump oil can.

    2024 Venza

I remember my first 4.6L V8 in 2001 spec'ing 5W-20 and I was really wanting to use at least a 5W-30. The only 5W-20 on the WalMart shelves at the time was Motorcraft semi-syn, and that's what it got for it's life time. Well, that car lasted 296,xxx miles until the second deer strike took it...

Oil for new CanAm Spyder ?

If you're riding that Spyder around in freezing temperatures, then you might want that 5W-40. Otherwise, there are a lot of 10W-40 motorcycle oils out there that will give you excellent service. There are a lot of opinions on brands. Personally, I would pick a semi or full synthetic with the...

    Grandma and saving money

I know two sisters and I sometimes feel like "Dear Abby" because they both confide in me. Both are retirement age. One is an RN, and married three times with one child. The other sister (married twice, and single for 30 years) worked a lot of minimum wage jobs and mostly two at a time. The...

What was the first car you worked on regularly?

1967 Ford Galaxy 500. 240 cu. in. big block straight six - with a three speed column shift. No power anything and no AC. It was worn out. This was my first engine rebuild, at the ripe old age of 15. Paid for it ($75) with my lawn mowing money. Same with the parts to put it on the road...

    75w140 in 02 Silverado

Just rambling here.... We have several motorcycles where the earlier models spec'd 75W-90 in the transmissions and final drive pumpkins. They're all spec-ing 75W-140 now. I don't know why that is. Harley (forever) wanted their special fluid in the transmissions and primary chain cases...
