My oil change set up with ramps

I have 4 Goodyear 6 ton jack stands. I can have my car pretty high up when I use the 4 for exhaust work and such. Or I use two for when I need the wheels free. This is just for oil changes or for working under the radiator to a little past the engine. The other benefit of carpet is insulation...

My oil change set up with ramps

Kinda like the Shawshank Redemption? Fill my pockets up with gravel and shake them loose walking down the street.

My oil change set up with ramps

The angle actually drains more oil out as the drain plug faces the rear of the car. I add the oil up on the ramps so I can start the engine and drive it down and then recheck the dipstick.

My oil change set up with ramps

I have seen incidents as well. That is why I bought these ramps. If anybody has an incident with these, they should not be working on cars and have their man card revoked.

My oil change set up with ramps

I had used cardboard and I was especially fond of my LG OLED box that was "painted" with the LG logo advertising.. Those are especially slippery for gliding around. I kept extra cardboard on hand. but for me I had enough of scrounging for cardboard. The ramps and stands are easy to move, one...

My oil change set up with ramps

No they do not leave imprints on my driveway. I have had my car on the ramps with no marks. Depending how hot it gets and for any extended periods, you could easily put some wood under them to spread the weight. If I have the car on the ramps overnight or longer, I take the ramps off and put...

My oil change set up with ramps

That would work as well. Do the blankets move around or scrunch up? The floor side of the carpet stays in place. But whatever works!

My oil change set up with ramps

Thank you! I bought the ramps from discount ramps. Yikes! prices have gone up! Got tired of using 2 floor jacks and jack stands

My oil change set up with ramps

Simply passing along... The ramps are light and easy to set up. The ramps can be pulled away fro more freedom of movement. I have the longer version of their ramps for my Volvos with body kits. I bought a remnant carpet from Menard's to lay on and catch any oil drips. The carpet makes it very...

how do i edit my posts?

iI did not find anything on how to edit my posts using search. I would like to clean up my mis-spellings and also remove a sentence that I afterwards think would be better off not said. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks!

HPL Engine cleaner / 2015 Volvo XC60 high oil consumption progress report

Hi Astro, I truly received your sympathy - absolutley 100% It is also nice to hear that you considered yourself part of this journey in which you were indeed. I think at times we take for granted input from well informed people who are actually a family in it's own right. We celebrate victories...

HPL Engine cleaner / 2015 Volvo XC60 high oil consumption progress report

Hey ASTRO I admit I am enjoying our debate and I will add that I was not in the least bit irrated. So, your assumption falls under the word judgement.I would ask you if you were irritated and projected your annoyance upon me. My intention was solely based on accuracy for future readers who may...

HPL Engine cleaner / 2015 Volvo XC60 high oil consumption progress report

Hey ASTRO I have never been one to throw the word semantics around. So this is not about semantics but about accuracy in describing so others may be educated as accurate as I can enable them. For reference a blown engine is used to describe a catastrophic failure of some sort. Thus particular...

HPL Engine cleaner / 2015 Volvo XC60 high oil consumption progress report

No, they engine did not blow. I asked for information on the techs finding that concluded it need a new engine. Volvo does not like to be questioned in a polite manor so I found out. The tech did NOT disassemble the engine to check for tolerances etc. It makes sense to replace the whole engine...

HPL Engine cleaner / 2015 Volvo XC60 high oil consumption progress report

Hey all. My takeaway from all this and for anybody who wants to embark on a oil program the free up your rings and or piston drain holes, is to have the heads cleaned first. Use whichever method will work best for you. The reason I say this is that a piece of carbon broke off in #4 cylinder and...

HPL Engine cleaner / 2015 Volvo XC60 high oil consumption progress report

Thank you both for your kind words. It's a disappointment because I was making some headway. Age means nothing to the most part when it comes to things such as pistons, piston rings and valves. Mileage does in my book and 100k on an engine is nothing these days. This is a known issue that Volvo...
