    Thoughts on Super Tech?

It’s as good as any oil needs to be. Just keep it changed at a reasonable interval you will be fine. People seem to overthink the whole what is the best thing. In reality it’s hard to find an engine oil that isn’t up to modern specs. Unless you get a way off brand oil

    Amsoil XL 5w20?

Honestly if you are going oem intervals I’d just use a good brand from the parts store. The dealer explained to me if the oci is to be 5k miles and you use amsoil and go over the 5k it’s still not covered under warranty even if the oil is extended drain. I just buy whatever is on sale

Dont see much talk about AC Delco oil...

I’m lucky to be friends with the local mechanic and he buys it from the dealership for me and they deliver it. He uses it all the time when a newer gm vehicle comes in for a service to avoid the hassle with a warranty claim if the customer has one. I have been using it since the dexos...

Not trolling, but all things being equal, why not just use SuperTech for everything?

In my younger days my oil and filters had to be high dollar or say performance. Anymore whatever is cheapest and works mainly napa brand. Just change it on time or early and you will be fine

Towing with GM Light Duty 3.0L diesel

I would honestly just run whatever it says in the manual if it’s new and under warranty let the dealer worry about repairs. After run whatever you like

Chevy 3.6 liter OEM filter only?

I have recently purchased a 2013 Chevy impala with the 3.6l engine from a guy that I plan on driving to work to save miles on the new truck. The guy told me whatever you do use the AC delco filter on it when you change oil. He said the dealer told him there was a Service bulletin sent out to the...

    Chevy Silverado windows not working

You have a good point there. When I took it to the shop years ago they were able to get it to roll up, if it went up wouldn’t think it would be the motor. I’m glad you said that because I forgot all about that

    Chevy Silverado windows not working

Does anyone know how expensive it is to have a electric window fixed on a 2000 silverado? The thing quit years ago so I just always rolled the passenger side window down. Last week the passenger side quit working finally. Sooo me thinks It’s time to look into fixing them. I replaced all switches...

Stuck caliper or pin. Mechanic didn't seem to think it was a big deal.

Had a mechanic tell me the same thing once said you have a caliper sticking but you should be good the rear will just wear a little quicker. I got home after about a 5 mile trip and my wheels were so hot you couldn’t touch them and smoking. Glazed the rotors to the point they needed replaced. I...

Would you ever use the same oil filter more than twice?

Never personally. Filters are cheap engines are not. I have known people who do though but I have OCD and I would literally lay awake at night thinking about it lol.

Amsoil pressure drop after 3,500 miles

I would change it at 3000 miles snd just switch to a cheaper synthetic IMO. I have an 06 that if I try and go 5000 miles I loose oil pressure. I suspect it was neglected on maintenance by the previous owner because it has sludge and alot of it. I just use napa 5w30 synthetic and change it at...

Towing with GM Light Duty 3.0L diesel

mine takes 0w20 oil and when I tow in the summer my oil pressure drops just a little lower then it would just driving around I suspect to oil thinning from the temps. I suspect gm has taken this into account being a truck and knowing it will tow. If your towing I would recommend going to 3000...

Rethinking 5w-40 vs 15w-40 for my low use diesels

My work truck is an 05 Ford 6.0 diesel. I work for a small private company and the boss lets me take it home and use it if I need to on the weekends within reason of course hauling feed from town to my house 3-4 miles. Anyway the only thing he asks in return I change oil in it and the company...
