    Scarier than WW's post ....

You are wise to have a colonoscopy done. It saved my life. At age 53, the doctors found a malignant tumor, removed it and a foot of my colon, found signet cell, mucinous, adenocarcenoma, Stage 3C appediceal cancer and 4 malignant lymph nodes. Had 6 months of 9 sessions of 48 hour chemo. Was...

    Is Amsoil Playing with Me??

When you get up to 85% ethanol, storage and increase horsepower, you better ask someone more knowledgeable than me. I'm not up on 85% ethanol. You might ask your vehicle manufacturer or fuel company.

    Is Amsoil Playing with Me??

Here is a reference you may find helpful. "Where our Gasoline comes from" http://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/index.cfm?page=gasoline_where Ethanol has a higher octane rating than gasoline, but has about 30% less energy, thus 10% ethanol should decrease fuel economy by 3%. Avoid ethanol if you...

How important is using tier I gasoline?

I doubt BP spends the extra money for the extra additive package and thus may not meet TOP TIER fuel standards. They certainly don't seem to spend any more money than they deem necessary as witnessed by their poor environmental and safety record on land and in the Gulf.

How important is using tier I gasoline?

I've seen engines run on Top Tier gasoline vs lower gas at Shell's test faciilty in Houston, and there is a difference. Their advice was if you insist on running the lower priced gas, run a tank of Top Tier in between. It will clean the deposits the other gas leaves behind. Here is the current...

    Is Amsoil Playing with Me??

I think that all gas tanks installed are double walled and may have monitors that alert if a tank is leaking. I know that at one time a huge number of underground gas station tanks were leaking back in the days before ethanol was used as an oxygenate. MTBE was pre ethanol and when gasoline and...

80K miles on Motorcraft 5w20 blend

UOA's do not speak for themselves. I don't see where the Motorcraft UOA's are any better than the others. They require interpretation by experts. They are only a $20 analysis. I suppose if this particular UOA came back fine, then you would say this engine is in fine shape? I may think Amsoil is...

80K miles on Motorcraft 5w20 blend

G-Man - His post title reads "80K miles on Motorcraft 5W20 Blend". What "stellar history" does Motorcraft have? The same as Ford? And what do you base that Motorcraft has "cleaned things up somewhat". Sounds like you are serving up enough "baloney" to keep us all well fed for a while.

80K miles on Motorcraft 5w20 blend

Buster, I'd like to see the article if you could find it. The current owner has had the car for 5 years, 80,000 miles, using only Motorcraft oil every 3,000 miles, so hard to blame the previous owner. Hopefully, someone who has taken the engine apart to this point would have thought to check the...

80K miles on Motorcraft 5w20 blend

I think most oil manufacturers use similar base stocks and additives through out their similar product lines, so would expect similar results in their different viscosity grades. I'm sure glad the Motorcraft oil users have their Motorcraft oil warranty to fall back on .... oops, they don't...

80K miles on Motorcraft 5w20 blend

You mean a manufacturers and API certified oil possibly failed to do it's job? Blasphemy! Motorcraft synthetic blend tested last in High Temperature/High Shear ASTM testing in this report http://www.amsoil.com/performancetests/g1971/index.aspx, and didn't do that great in the other tests...
