    "Fuel Efficiency Standards Are Dead"

Nope, nor the numerous organizations who have analyzed resale values for auto manufacturers and published the results. Must be fake news I guess.

    "Fuel Efficiency Standards Are Dead"

Now you're going backwards and comparing a niche top trim SRT (with a V8 upgrade) to a Limited 4R (not even the TRD Pro - which just demonstrates your lack of familiarity with the Toyota lineup). Regardless, it's irrelevant, you are missing the forest for the trees. Toyota & Lexus residual /...

Are German cars safer than Japanese or American cars?

Me too. The Mercedes SBC brake system was an amazing safety innovation. I mean it's really no big deal if your brakes completely fail out of nowhere while doing 80 on the highway. You'll be fine. The Lexus RX consistently ranks at the top of the safest vehicles (per IIHS data) - with a...

    "Fuel Efficiency Standards Are Dead"

We have access to the used vehicle market. In 2025, why does a 20 year old Corolla sell for more money than an equivalent 20 year old BMW 5 series? Even though when new the BMW MSRP'd over 3x more? As I've outlined, the primary factor of resale value is reliability, and all that entails...

    "Fuel Efficiency Standards Are Dead"

Resale value is primarily driven by reliability. Nobody is talking about niche, enthusiast vehicles. Beyond the Sequoia, both the Tundra & Tacoma resales are stronger than domestic competitors. Let's not even bring up the 4Runner.

    "Fuel Efficiency Standards Are Dead"

Per caredge.com for 2025 model year: The Toyota Sequoia will hold 67% of it's value after 5 years. The Chevrolet Tahoe will hold 47% of it's value after 5 years Resale strength of Toyota compared to other manufacturers is clear and well established. This isn't difficult information to find...

What about them? A Tahoe retains better than an X7. And the Sequoia retains better than both of them. And it's not because the Sequoia looks prettier.

    "Fuel Efficiency Standards Are Dead"

What's unfounded? The market value for a used vehicle and particularly it's depreciation rate from new tells you most of what you need to know about vehicle durability, reliability, and longevity. The reliable, simpler and cheaper to maintain vehicles hold their values much better (see Toyota...

    Toyota ... warped rotors

I own multiple Toyota / Lexus over the long term. Never had this issue. Are you using OEM parts? Or aftermarket (junk)? Doing the full job correctly? Fitting kit, Toyota brake grease, anti squeal shims, prepping hub, etc. Bedding the brakes in after install?

Viscosity: Engine protection Vs. enhanced mileage

Yes, they could. It's pretty standard warranty language that service receipts / invoices need to be kept demonstrating maintenance was followed per factory recommendations. Put it a different way. Would you buy a used car with over 100k miles from an owner who had zero maintenance records...

NEW Vehicle Advice / Recommendations: Anyone? Subaru or Toyota? What says the gang?

I am not aware where they made that claim. Got a source? That would (bizarrely) suggest the motor's internals are different if being installed into a hybrid equipped model and therefore Toyota builds them on a separate assembly line that was unaffected with the machining debris problem...

NEW Vehicle Advice / Recommendations: Anyone? Subaru or Toyota? What says the gang?

Where did Toyota claim the issue only affected non-hybrids? The safety recall excludes the hybrids because in the event of the engine grenading the hybrid system still allows for a limited continued operation of the vehicle thereby eliminating the "safety" issue encountered with completely...

Viscosity: Engine protection Vs. enhanced mileage

I've owned multiple 2GR-FE, they are smooth as butter. The -FKS seem a bit noisier but either way the 2GR is a legend. Out of all the modern engines out there you have one of if not the best one. The only oil related thing you really have to worry about on this motor is the timing cover...

NEW Vehicle Advice / Recommendations: Anyone? Subaru or Toyota? What says the gang?

With a Rav4 PHEV the ICE motor won't even turn on for your wife's commute. It gets about 40 miles of all electric range. The Forester rides like a truck compared to a Rav4. If you really want a Subaru instead of a Toyota (first ask yourself why) go with the Outback. Ride quality will be much...

    3-Row SUV for Midlife Crisis

7 passengers with adults in the 3rd row? Obviously you -should- get a Sienna.

Per report change the air filter (OEM) and inspect and vacuum out any debris from the air box and intake. Otherwise it's possible this UOA is detecting a very small head gasket leak. Are you having any signs of a blown head gasket? Losing any coolant? If it was me I'd get another UOA after...

    Manual transmission used daily

2008 Corolla (or Matrix) XRS. Good luck finding a clean one. Or just get a regular CE/LE/S. Throw leftover money into wheels, tires, handling mods. Find a well maintained one and continue to maintain it well and you can drive that motor hard everyday.

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

Sheesh you've gone through a lot of cars in the last 10-15 years. As a long term Toyota/Lexus owner I can't really relate to this lifestyle. I've never sold any of my Toyota/Lexus vehicles. I currently own 3. I only replace them when they get totaled... RIP V6 AWD Rav4
