it will prevent wet snow from acculating and freezing ,but frost will form instantly on the glass ,even before you turn around. Unless the car is warmed a bit.Try it , different locations will have more or less success. Question - how common is this practice? Around here it is rare.

I leave the house same time as a summer day so no time ,I make a hand sized view port and get to 60 mph as soon as i can . that blows the snow off and prevents tailgating.

I always check the vent for a blockage - nests or lint if the dryer vent is near easy stuff first
