I thought lion had another fire just this week. 2 so far, nothing as useless as a empty bus- because parents will boycott them if they feel their kids are in the least danger.

our buses run 2 hours morning and afternoon,4 hours between runs, a fast charging system is likely needed to restore between runs(big bucks) The big elephant in the room is current battery chemistry and fire risk ,parents are funny that way. Trash truck no problem

except no parents would put their kids on one. ............ after the first fire.

A lot of districts require the replacement of buses quite regularly ,most around 5 years or so. We used to pick up our buses from well to do boards and get another 10 years of service,I doubt electric will pencil out the same.

I remembered something else, in a marine application all these power plants have always had way way more power then in vehicles . Unlimited cooling water is why ,and as manufacturers got better at cooling the engine suppliers permitted more output.Cummins and dodge come to mind.

They put a computer between you and the drive train it babysits and keeps bone head hooners from breaking it. de-fuel before shifts, only so much fuel no matter what your right foot does........ etc etc

so since it hasn't been brought up ,I would add hydrogen embrittlement to the list of issues and that it apparently seeps through containment at a rate of 2% every 30 days if under pressure. this is not a 'fuel' i would want under my car.

I remember the 70's,car rocker panels rusted thru in 3 years.The only rust through now days are the cars/trucks driven on gravels roads. So how careful will they have to be in a rural setting? Accumulated damage will be a factor some day.

Ok so salt water bad, what about the northern car exposed to salt water all winter ? Kinda bad?
