GM 2.4 timing chain gone amok! (and repair)

No doubt he should be better to it, but autos aren't his area of concern 😂 He's fine with it dying, he'll find another and motor on with it.

GM 2.4 timing chain gone amok! (and repair)

A tap with a punch and the center bit came loose, just had to finish the hole out Then I tapped the hole and made a threaded insert And installed with some epoxy Once I was (fairly) confident that everything would be okay, I went ahead and cleaned everything up (I actually pushed the...

GM 2.4 timing chain gone amok! (and repair)

Since we're all a bunch of of weirdos who appreciate a good bit automotive porn, I thought that I'd post up some pics of a job that I did a while ago. It was for a customer/buddy of mine who (still) has a 2006 Chevy HHR/2.4 He was in for a CEL, which was related the the VTC actuator. Pulling it...

New to me Savage 111 in .270 WIN. Thoughts on ammo and glass

I've worked in fab shops for many years and have a decent "eye" for things - I will give that a try, thanks! What are the side effects of having the cross hairs out of rotation a degree or two?

New to me Savage 111 in .270 WIN. Thoughts on ammo and glass

Well I ended up going with THIS scope that ArrestMeRedz suggested. Between FFP and SFP, the scope with the bullet drop calculator and so on, there are so many options out there that I just need to start somewhere. Next question is - what is a good method for getting the scope mounted level...

New to me Savage 111 in .270 WIN. Thoughts on ammo and glass

That *seems* like a really good deal! Honestly for the sake of simplicity and since I really don't know what will ultimate be the right or best scope, I think that I'm going to have to start somewhere, and I think that it will be here. Thanks much for the recommendation! Is there any reason...

Need Help with a Small Engine

I'm not sure you're looking at that correctly.. or at least one of us isn't 😂 It's listed as a pilot jet and most that I have seen like that are a fixed orifice. If it were adjustable, I would expect to see a needle right near the throttle plate.

Need Help with a Small Engine

First and easiest thing is to see if it has an adjustable pilot circuit.

That set may work but may skip over the size that you need. It has 15 bits in the range that THIS set has 20. Since another member posted their Honda carb having an adjustment, I would look there first before tearing yours down and modifying

It will be at retail. After reading cujet's reply on the side focus feature, I think that I'd like to stay with that - the cheapy Primary Arms scope on my AR has that feature and it seems kind of handy. I know this is a bit above the price range that I listed, but what about THIS SCOPE? To be...

This rifle already has a rail across the ejection port so I don't think that clearance is an issue.

    Death, destruction and Briggs carnage!

Why as a matter of fact, yes, yes I did! It is filled up with NAPA 15w50 synthetic with a Wix 51348 filter.

    Death, destruction and Briggs carnage!

Nah, just because I'm always looking for ways to make her life nicer. (We don't do birthdays or holidays) We maintain the neighbor's obstacle laden yard and she's still using my old Deere L110 - so when this came along, it seemed like a nice upgrade for her. Or maybe it's just a fast track to...

Need Help with a Small Engine

It's unlikely that cleaning will help. I (ass)umed that the pilot circuit is non adjustable, but after seeing the picture of the Honda carb, perhaps it is? If it is adjustable, then a slight adjustment is probably all that is necessary. If not and you're truly annoyed, then you'll have to remove...

Are you running E10? It will run slightly leaner than straight gas.

Alternative for Kohler 12-50-01 (short) oil filter that's common ?

Concerning the Wix at O'Reilly, are you sure that they didn't price you the fancy Platinum or whatever it's called synthetic media filter? That's ludicrously high priced!

I've heard others talk about the importance of good mounts - what, in your opinion qualifies? What should I be looking for in a mount?

New to me Savage 111 in .270 WIN. Thoughts on ammo and glass

I would love to reload - and will at some point. I have basically all the equipment (Dillon Progressive), including some dies, but no bullets, powder or primers. I have plenty of brass in the calibers I'm interested in and also lots of lead that I've melted into ingots, but haven't quite made...

If it runs solid under load and has a little burble unloaded, I'd bet that it's just a hair lean. If you want to fix it, it will require some modification. Orrrrrr...... You can live with it.
