    The mystery "failure"

Had this happen on my 05 Liberty - felt like I was hitting rumble strips. Bad caliper on the rear. So I'd lean towards a caliper issue. Whenever I've gotten a rock stuck somewhere in the brakes (happens a lot off road!), it's always a screeching noise.

Anyone using the Fram Tough Guard?

I use them on my Liberty, no issues. I like the silicone ADBV over the orange one, but don't need the extended OCI of the ultra.

    2021 VW Jetta 1.4 CEL - P2635

The Jetta is my sig is fine at like 40k miles and it gets the **** beat of it - kind of the beater for a 24yo girl. LOL! Gets oil changes roughly when the light comes on but that's about it! No CELs that I know of.

Watches and an itch I may need to scratch

Been a Tag guy for a long time! Have you considered a Tudor? I love them - super nice watch but not flashy or a super known brand like Rolex (I believe they are made by Rolex though) or Omega, kind off the path like GS. The Tudor Black Bay is a gorgeous watch.

    Rust Prevention detail vs coatings?

Driven up here in WI most of its life - my 05 Liberty. No rust. Washed at least once a week during the winter, and recently started fluid filming all the holes/nooks I can find underneath - with a 3ft long piece of tubing to really get it in there. Sand and paint any surface rust. So it is...

    California flood cars.

I had a lemon lawed Cherokee I bought from a Jeep dealer here in WI. Got normal good financing on it (was a year old with 5k miles so got the same rate I would've on anything else). They do check. And some dealers won't touch them. When I went to sell it, I took it to another local Jeep dealer...

5th or 6th set of tires on the LR3 - Nokain Outpost AT

Thanks!!! LR builds great stuff. I'll have to check that! Could be the driveway too, it's a decent slope. I did seriously think about upsizing this go around, but idk, after 16 years and 216k the stock size has worked fine....maybe next set LOL.

5th or 6th set of tires on the LR3 - Nokain Outpost AT

My LR3 just got its fifth or sixth set of tires...just passed 216k on it and still love it as much as ever. These replaced a set of the OG Nitro Terra Grapplers. Loved those. I have the Toyo Open Country AT3s on both the Jeeps but these were a great deal and seemed a little less aggressive but...

    Ram 1500 EV

Takes 10 minutes to add 100 miles of range, at best. What a turd. Can add 400 miles of range to my ICE stuff in 5 mins. Don't see how these will work for road trips, or towing. I would have expected a breakthrough given how they hyped it up and bragged about taking people's feedback into...

    Jeep Corrosion Warranty Boondoggle

My JLU has minor corrosion on one of the back doors and a little on the very top of the windshield frame. It's not very noticeable, definitely less so than a bad paint match if I let the dealer fix it! Mine is black as well.

New Hamp Oil Under on GM Wax Frame?

I'd scrape the wax off the frame and do some type of epoxy paint.

Fluid Film Treatment in My Situation

Fluild film inside the frame rails and any other holes you can find. Sand and paint any exposed rust. Fluid film won't stay on high trafficked areas but paint will! This is my 18 year old Liberty with 224k on it (most of it in Wisconsin and it's driven a ton in the snow) following that routine:

Ford Escape or Hyundai Santa Fe

Escape. Have a 13 in the family with the 2.0 and AWD, 160k of not easy miles. Only repair besides tires/brakes/oil has been one CV axle and CV axle seal. Fast little crossover!

Ford F-150 Lightning named MotorTrend Truck of the Year

"Towing aside, the Lightning performs its intended functions better than any other F-150 model." - basically, "besides doing what a lot of truck owners expect to do...."

What's the difference between an SUV and a Crossover?

True! I look at the new GM full sizers and don't see how those even need low range, with how low the body work is and suspensions that don't flex. I guess 4lo is probably more for towing a boat out of the water in those.

What's the difference between an SUV and a Crossover?

BMWs SAVs are great vehicles (considering adding an X3 or X5 to the stable) but would not hold a candle to my Wrangler off road. Or even my Liberty, LR3 or Disco. No low range = can't go serious off road.

What's the difference between an SUV and a Crossover?

CUV - FWD based, no low range SUV - RWD based, low range. I don't use the BOF as an identifier. My uniframe Liberty or Discovery are proper SUVs with great off road abilities and towing abilities despite not being body on frame (although the Liberty is a ladder frame with the body welded to it...

I have. Just because you don't drive vehicles you can trust doesn't mean I don't trust mine.

GM installing chargers for all EVs at dealers

I just wonder how they will age over time, in addition to miles. My Liberty has 224k on it and my LR3 has 215k on it, and both get the same range as they did when new and would drive either cross country tomorrow. They are both closing in on 20 years old. How will a 20 year old EV work with 220k...
