    Inherited a 2017 Cadillac XTS

Which do you prefer, the XT4 or Cadillac cars? My wife likes my XT4 and I'm used to cars so I was thinking about a CT4 or CT5.

    Cheap cars are back, but...

What I meant was that all work deserves a living wage. There's no sense that someone who goes out and works every day should be on food stamps, gov't assistance because their employer is ripping them off.

    Cheap cars are back, but...

As a 64 year old truck driver, I wouldn't be too quick to spout off about people not "working hard enough" or being in a job that doesn't require much skill being not deserving of a living wage. Wages are priced by supply and demand; it doesn't matter what skill you have or don't have if your...

    Favorite EDC Pocket Knife

For the past 35 years I have carried a baby Swiss Army knife. They usually last a few years of hard everyday use.

Threw the rod through the side of the block in my riding mower - time for a new one

Well, I spoke too soon about broken compression releases. My 17.5 Intek, which was well maintained and had its valves adjusted regularly, broke its compression release. Briggs has the cams on backorder. From my anecdotal sample, I've concluded there's nothing that can prevent these from...

    Whats so great about Jeeps?

My wife has a 2018 Cherokee Limited she bought new in 2018 and it's been almost perfect. Shifter has been the only thing replaced under warranty and it had one recall.

Front driver side brake still dragging!

If your caliper has the plastic pistons, the caliper needs to be replaced with a NAPA (that's the brand I use) rebuilt caliper.

People gas it so you cant switch lanes?

I've driven over 2,000,000 miles in my driving career and I will always tap the brakes if I see someone wants to get in front of me. Also for passing on a two lane.

    Confessions of a Recovering Thickie

Someone mentioned top compression ring wear. I'm thinking that the wear metal from the top ring might blow out the exhaust rather than be detectable with an oil analysis. FWIW I'm using 5W-30 in my wife's Jeep 2.4 Multiair Cherokee which calls for 5W-30. It definitely quiets down the motor...

    Briggs Quantum refuses to prime

Assuming you have the correct parts, you can take a piece of electrical tape and put it over the air "channel" in the breather and place your old gasket back over that. The problem is the breather warps. You could get a new breather for the mower, though but this way is free.

    GM aborting move to 0w-40

Yeah, and my 4.3 cast iron six cylinder with a 4L60E is still running w/o a single problem after 13 years since I bought it new.

    GM aborting move to 0w-40

It serves GM right having to replace motors because they fire domestic workers (U.S. & Canada) and get the cheapest possible parts in China and Mexico. It appears they're spending a dollar to save a dime.

Threw the rod through the side of the block in my riding mower - time for a new one

Those single cylinder Briggs 17.5, 19, etc. motors need to have the valves adjusted at least once when the motor is broken in. I adjusted mine after about 2 years and checked it last year and the adjustments were still the same. I had the exhaust valve a little tight and intake really loose...

How much is your vehicle tag in your state ?

In Virginia, we pay 4% (used to be 3%) at purchase and a certain percentage of the NADA wholesale value every year until the car is 20 years old. It's fairly costly to have a new car here.

How much is your vehicle tag in your state ?

It's around $40 here in Virginia but personal property tax was $1,150 for my cars (in my signature) this year.

    Chaser VS Tap!

I would always "chase" threads with a new bolt. Most of the time I will run a tap through the hole.
