Hey, remember those Fanta Shokata vids starring Bob, Patman, and other BITOG regulars?
They have a new "newscaster" format, a friend of mine made this clip.
From what I've seen, SAAB turbo engines tend to have higher lead readings than most. Here, the lead has fallen to about half of what it used to be--I think it's a fine report.
It was the Walmart at Square One. I didn't see any GC at Square One though.
Thanks for the tip, next time I'm up there, I'll probably buy a Canadian 1 litre bottle of GC from Meadowvale as a souvenir!
Ah! Another Mississaugan! (is that the correct term for someone from Mississauga?)
Are M1 0W-20 and 0W-40 widely available there yet?
Interestingly, Delvac 1 seemed to be easier to find in Canada than down here. But Jean says that may no longer be the case?!
I got the 4 quart D1 jug from a Flying J truckstop in Ohio ($30), the M1 5W-40 quart from a Walmart in central NJ ($4.77), and the 4 litre D1 jug from the Walmart in Patman's home town of Mississauga, Ontario (~CAN$35=USD$25)
I think it should read "17,005 vehicle miles at sampling". Previous report is here.
Hey YZF150, where ya been? Another great report for your vehicle!
Lead and copper came down nicely.
What a great BB we have here--people from Los Angeles CA, Long Island NY, Ontario (yes?) Canada, Canberra & Lithgow Australia, discussing an oil analysis report for a Japanese car owned by someone from Singapore!
Where have you seen M1 0W-40 to sludge? Never heard of this before, but I find this interesting.
I've run M1 0W-40 before and it used to be my favorite oil, but after running GC and now D1, I like these better.
With GC and D1, the engines seem to run more smoothly... must be the esters. These...
Great report!
Some of the thinning is undoubtedly due to the 1.0% fuel dilution, no biggie.
Instead of running dino, I'd go to 10,000 km (6,250 mile) intervals--this will be no problem whatsoever for GC!
I've had the exact opposite experience in an '03 BMW 330xi.
When changing over to Delvac 1, the engine sounds better than ever, runs smoothly, and has more power, it's like night and day...
I think Delvac 1 is another winner, just like GC.
Ken: looks like you have a great engine there, always stellar UOAs, just like the Subaru WRX engines.
In my own car, I seem to be getting about the same fuel economy with GC as compared to when I ran M1 0W-40 (after you factor in the crappy "oxygenated" gasoline we still have here now). But...
I ran M1 0W-40 for a while in my '02 9-5 Aero, you can search the used oil analysis section for my reports.
It was satisfactory but it always thinned out about 8% after 5,000 miles. Not sure if this is a big deal but people on here always critized this.
Currently I'm using GC and I like it...
Go with the ACDelco PF1127. It helped quiet the valve clatter on my brother's '00 Eclipse V6 (3.0) and it works great on the '03 Montero V6 (3.8) I installed it on.
I tried a Wix on the Eclipse but the valves were a little bit noisy after 3,000 miles.
I saw it at the Walmart on Rt 38 in Lumberton, NJ (mid-Jersey).
Someone also saw it at a Walmart in NJ near the PA border, along I-78.
Autobarn in Mineola (Long Island), NY just started carrying it too, same price as other M1. They have an online shopping site but it costs more online...
