I talk to terry, and asked him about this issue, but mainly in terms of the RLI 5w40 that i am using and asked if a zddp would help and he said that the RLI needs no more as it has that covered. I would say maybe a good oil + some slob or some zddp additive.

JosephH1, i have had nothing but good experience with RLI and there shipping. Yeah, they didnt send me a tracking number but i emailed the vp or someone and i got a msg back the next day with a tracking number and what not. Hope you get it soon!

I have a 06 gti, same motor, 1 quart/5k is semi normal i think via the manual. One issue with oil burning is the PCV system causing major oil consumption issues.

I have used MOTUL E-Tech, Pento 5w40, and now i am using and will be using RLI 5w40 oil. (06 gti)

what was the batch number of the 5w40 you got? I am gonna try to find to see what batch mine was, i didnt see separation when i shook oil in glass beaker

That is one think i like to know is how much diff does it make that the block is iron...?
