it seems like engine oils have evolved over the years, this is just old, outdated info, engine oil gets reformulated every so often as formulas change due to costs, engine manufactures demands, specs, licenses, newer add pacs, base oils, product improvements, etc.

Royal Purple Ultra Performance grease would be a better choice.

Schaeffer's #274 or #219 NLGI 2 would work fine in your app, its also Aluminum complex for better water resistance. or if you want to try something else, Valvoline cobalt looks like some interesting stuff to., check on this grease site page for info.

though I don't usually recommend oil additives, try Liqui-Moly Pro-Clean to your fresh engine oil using 5w-30 Valvoline EP-HM and a new filter run for a short distance, this may help.

maybe Mobil 1 is what caused it in the first place, or overly extended oci.

there is nothing wrong with Castrol Edge EP ,in fact it is a good engine oil, though I am not a believer in a 25k interval, you will get good results in this oil like all of Castrol products.

check with your local Schaeffer's dealer, you might be able to some by the gallon jug or five gallon ,,use the #254 at perhaps iso68,,great stuff,or of course if small quantity's Amsoil has great compressor oil too.

as much as Valvoline is a good, they are really sketchy on their pds,even when you call them, they tell you nothing, is why I went to PUP for engine oil, and Mobil is the same way, no transparency of their products either. Amsoil, Schaefers and others at least give you decent information.

I had some of the Idemitsu 0w-16 in my 2024 Subaru and it sounded like a typewriter on steroids, then 0w-20 now 5w-30 PUP , and sounds much better, and mpg is still around 30-36 in town, will use the 0w-20 PUP in winter though just to be safe.

if you want quieter running oil I found 0w-16 Valvoline, PUP and Royal Purple is noticeably quieter..Mobil 1 was clattery in my 2024 Subaru. Currently have Penzoil Ultra platinum in it and its also quieter. There is nothing special about mobil 1 is what I found out.

try 0w-20 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, the viscosity is close to 0w-16, and the 0w-20 offers a better hths protection or even Valvoline 0w-20 EP. are affordable and commonly found, the Liqui-Moly would be a good choice if wanting 0w-16. or AMSOIL SS for a choice too. what engine are you putting it...
