15W40 oil changed every 100 hours sounds good to me. Fuel dilution can be pretty extensive in small engines. I wouldn't want to go out past 100 hours personally.

I cant fathom that Rotella T4 would be an appropriate oil for a transmission and hydraulic system, but Ive been wrong before. Was the transmission loud before?

Oil works as a solvent. SN oil IS detergent oil, which cleans. It breaks down carbon and other bits. When the oil sits, it comes out of suspension, and forms this sludge on the bottom of the container. Not rocket surgery.
