Effects of running predator 212 at an angle, lack of lubrication?

The low oil sensor is disconnected, since it will randomly shut the unit down in chop/turns ect…I just don’t want to be out 5 miles in a marsh and lose a bearing on the plus side I know others are using it and have never heard of one failing do to oil starvation. I do add more oil to it than...

Effects of running predator 212 at an angle, lack of lubrication?

I built a mud motor with a backwater 6.5hp ultralight kit. I used a predator 212 engine as there was nothing else available at the time. It’s mounted on a 12’ Jon boat and works great but I worry about the longevity of the engine since it is running constantly at a 10-20 degree angle. Will the...

Synthetic oil bad in a lawnmower? Any truth in this self proclaimed experts statements?

I live in a pretty extreme environment, unfortunately I do have to start small engines in sub-zero (-35f is not uncommon) temps on occasion, usually in an emergency like starting generators during a power outage in blizzards ect... It’s actually pretty serious business because there’s no one to...

Nonstop Running (8th day) for EU2000

Buying essential supplies cheap and stacking them deep is not a mental disease. It’s foresight. I think it’s nuts not to be prepared and frankly oil is a tangible asset that’s a pretty good investment in our current economy. Waiting till something happens and panic buying is a whole different...

Synthetic oil bad in a lawnmower? Any truth in this self proclaimed experts statements?

I was starting the mud motor on my boat the other day (212 predator engine 6.5hp) in 24 degree temperatures. Sure was glad I had switched it to synthetic oil, it was hard enough to pull over with the stiff grease in the drive shaft. Low temps and high temps are where synthetic oil shines but you...

Do some ECUs adjust for oil pressure?

Overkill, I was wrong about the oil pump, it’s a variable speed pump, not sure where I got the electric pump from.

    I love Lucas marine grease

I’m up in North Dakota, it gets down to -40 every winter here. It’s used in tractors and the snow blower bearings ect… but honestly no grease will flow at that temp, I have to heat up the bearing and keep my grease guns in a heated building if I want to service them but for the most part I just...

    I love Lucas marine grease

I have to say I love Lucas marine grease, you can pick it up at Walmart for$6-$8. I use it in everything including boat trailer hub bearings. It is the most sticky clingy grease I have worked with, I mean it sticks to everything and is a pain to get off your hands and clothes but that’s a small...

Synthetic oil bad in a lawnmower? Any truth in this self proclaimed experts statements?

In response to the original posting. Seeing how 90% of lawnmower engines use oil splashers and have no oil pressure it seems to blow a big hole in the guys theory. Synthetic works better in pretty much everything mostly due to less thermal breakdown (or breakdown in general) and less varnish...

Post your latest small engine oil change

Changed the oil on my mud motor build. Built with a backwater 6.5 ultralight long shaft boat motor kit, I installed a harbor freight predator 212 6.5hp engine. I ran it for about an hour with some supertech 10w-30 synthetic I had laying around, it had lots of glitter in it which is totally...

So we're all buying Toyotas now 🤔

I had a 2002 Corolla that used oil, I switched from 5w-30 to 0w-20 (supertech synthetic) and it eventually stopped using oil all together, I ran that car to nearly 300k miles, 200k on the 0w-20 oil, it was totaled in an accident. I’m sure It would still be on the road otherwise.

VINTAGE FRAM TOUGH GUARD 4967 CUT OPEN

Is that a screen over the bypass valve? If so that’s pretty awesome.

Not trolling, but all things being equal, why not just use SuperTech for everything?

For me, as a long time ST user with great success, I drew the line a turbocharged DI engines. I use mobile 1 ep for the two I own and still change the oil at 3-4K. The other vehicles aren’t as challenging of an environment for oil so I’m good with ST. Also as a rule of thumb any car that was...

    CRV's, are they that good?

I have a 2003 crv that has been in like 4 accidents (deer/ moron magnet), I’ve had to replace the a/c compressor x2 the power steering pump, the vvt valve on the back of the engine leaked, fixed it now it’s leaking again. The drive shaft u-joints failed and the cat converter failed. Oh and the...

Update : My 2018 Mazda 3 will need a brand new transmission

If they were rebuilding it I would worry but a new complete transmission takes no skill to install. I would consider yourself lucky actually.
