Vehicles with the Coldest A/C Systems?

Rams are terrible, universally hated here by my field team.

Lots of new Ram trucks rotting on dealer lots it seems

Cost aside - I’d have concerns with buying the first 2-3 years of any new engine. It being a stellantis product gives me additional concern. With that said - I like the idea of a turbo I-6.

    Rental review - 2024 4Runner

California, but this seems to be fairly pervasive throughout the west.

    Rental review - 2024 4Runner

White 4Runners are the official vehicle of divorced moms ‘round these parts.

I drove an f350 gasser too. No thanks.

    Current ugly trends

There seems to be a lot of nostalgia from GEN X and millenials for the those early 90’s trucks. Having driven an 89’ ranger for far too long I’ll have to pass on that trend.

    Current ugly trends

I generally dislike the direction Toyota has gone with styling. I was considering a new tundra until they were released. Hard no. Lexus is Toyota on steroids styling wise.

"Lower tier " oils you have run...

I ran Supertech synthetic and Havoline Pro-DS in my Mustang the last few tortured years of ownership before I sold it. I’ve run Havoline Pro-DS in my Tacoma a fair amount as well. $26 for 6 quarts is a steal. I wouldn’t even call it “low tier” but it’s certainly cheaper than my usual Mobil 1...

Is Michelin Defender T+H a good tire?

I have a set of the Defender 2 on my VW Atlas. Very happy with the tires. I am in hot central California and the tires perform excellent and appear to have great tread wear (basically 0/32 over 5k thus far).

    Post your latest brake job

I probably could have just slapped some ceramic pads in place of the factory semi-metallics but I wanted to be sure - so I went with new rotors too.

    Lost another one: HEMI #3

I too like to hit my head against the wall hoping it won’t hurt next time. 🤪

Lots of new Ram trucks rotting on dealer lots it seems

Oh… yeah I didn’t read half those posts. I’m commenting on the OP’s questions about Ram’s etc. staying on the lot. People lost 10-20% of their buying power in less than 3 years. Wages sure as heck didn’t keep pace.

Lots of new Ram trucks rotting on dealer lots it seems

I’m currently actively looking for a 1/2 ton truck. Trucks that were mid $40’s a couple years ago are pushing $60k now. I simply can’t justify the cost. Everything else in my life has gone up 10-20% without any spending or lifestyle changes.

2021.5 VW Atlas. 3 years of tolerating a horrible brake squeal at low speeds. Dealer replaced rotors and pads, still came back. Resched my limit after 2+hours in bumper to bumper traffic on a recent road trip. Pulled off the factory rotors and pads. Replaced with Centric high carbon coated...

Finally knocked this out. Was able to do everything with 1L of the pentosin DOT4LV from oreilly. So far no issues. Thank you.

Volkswagen Beetle. A classic car on a budget?

My dad had a restored convertible in the 90’s. Awesome car - granted he lived near the beach in SoCal, so definitely a year-round driver there.

But you’d be tying yourself to a Chrysler….

Directly from the "Dealers are on Crack files".....

I’m in the market for a new pickup. Middling equipped Ford F150 XLT trim trucks are going for $58,000. 3.9% APR for well qualified buyers. Something is broken. Seriously broken. I can only imagine the debt people are carrying.

    VW Brake Fluid ?

This place helped me solve my VW ATLAS brake squealing issue, so I’ll dip into the pool once again. I’m gettin ready to do a brake flush, but other than the VW OEM fluid, what other options do I have? DOT 4, DOT 4 LV? My google-fu has failed me yet again on this. Thanks!
