Nice! I run Quaker state 5w40 euro in my 94 ls400, and I run castrol 5w30 euro API SL (2001 oil spec, I like that) in the tundra. Both cars share the same engine family v8, I’m too scared to put my money where my mouth is with the tundra by going to 40wt, so I’m experimenting with the ls400...

Dang facts. Quaker state kinda is the move tbh. 7 bucks cheaper for the jug, 4 bucks cheaper for the single quart I need. Save 12 ish bucks

Thanks I’ll probably do the mobile w40. I’m fairly knowledgeable on euro oil but never even heard or learned of this a40 spec, I always just looked to make sure it was a3/b4 and mb 229.5 approved

Thanks for the response. I’m tempted to try castrol 5w30 because it’s api SL which means it’s going to have more of the zinc and other good old additive pack that oils from the 90s and 2000s had

Don’t get me wrong obviously mobile 0w40 is a great oil, but quite a bit more expensive than Quaker states 5w40, and I prefer a 5w over a 0w just a tad bit more robyst

Just finished the trip. Did 85-90mph most of the way back from Texarkana to the Chicagoland area. Lexus took it like a champ as expected for the ls400. 6k on the oil at moment

Hello all, my dad owns a 2013 Silverado 5.3 lc9 with AFM DOD, it has 165k miles and running strong. This truck is a mostly highway truck with some city miles and lives in Illinois 8 months out of the year and north Texas area the rest of the year. It has had a steady diet of 5w30 Quaker state...

They got it by me, but not down south where I’m visiting. But they also always carry Castrol euro 5w40 and it’s always on clearance

I’d trust the ls400 on a long road trip over any garbage made today

Thankfully it’s a Lexus ls400 with a bulletproof engine and trans and a timing belt in good shape. Reliable as can be I have no worries

Na I don’t trust those dudes especially with a previous owner installed an oversized self tapping drain plug on the oil pan, I’m trying to avoid any potential leaks right before a trip. Plus they would run some 5w30 stuff i want some euro 5w40
