    Valvoline Restore & Protect

Obvious he doesn't. Took this right from his Q&A section of the blog this AM. Had to look back in the older section, but here it is. I know he started doing this testing because of wiped cam problems. I know from his ramblings he has no time for people here on BITOG. I feel he's trying to make...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

Another great used oil analysis with the VR&P. So much for that dipshilt Rat540 saying that VR&P would wear your engine right out possible even seizing it.... Been multiple oil reports showing low wear metals now. Rat540 won't even test it on his machine. F'n guy is so full of himself and self...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I just used a squirt bottle with a hose on the end to suck out the B12. Like a plastic ketchup or mustard bottle used at the local diner. Collapse it in your hand and let it suck with a flexible hose on the end. Worked great, till the hose plugs with the carbon chunks, then just squirt it into...

    Valvoline R&P 5w-20 5,000 miles 2008 Honda Accord 2.4L

Great report! Glad to hear that the VR&P is doing what it's supposed to be doing at freeing up those oil control rings and cleaning the pistons and rings up. According to Rat540, the VR&P will completely wear the engine out and blow it up, F'n dipshilt...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I did rotate the crank yes. Initially I used a brass spray nozzle with a 360 degree spray to it attached to a squirt bottle with a flexible hose to "wash" fully around the cylinder to try and get the B12 all the way around the piston and rings and let it soak all the way around with about 3 oz...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

No leaks for me. I'm running it in two vehicles now. My 2014 5.3 Chevy truck, and our 2018 Audi Q7 with 3.0t. If the "sludge" was sealing any gaps then there a mechanical faults that should be dealt with anyway, or a seal replaced or whatever. IMO this oil is worth it to keep the internals...

    2017 Audi Q7 3.0T - Valvoline Restore & Protect 5W-30, 2k mi

Good report. And it is very similar results on the wear metals with double the miles and double the wear metals. Supports the fact that VR&P is in good company from the wear aspect as the HPL Euro oil. Thanks for adding the report on the Audi Q7. The more info the better to fix the sticking low...

HPL EC treatment started. 2007 Camry 2AZ-FE 153k consumption.

Interesting that there is still carbon on the pistons. After doing the Berryman's B12 soak on our 2018 Q7 with 3.0t V6 the tops of the pistons were pretty dang clean, so clean you could see the part numbers etched into them. I had to blow out the loose carbon from the cylinders because the...

    Quick question about b-12 chemtool

I ran our Audi Q7 after a piston soak for 20 min at 1500 RPM while parked in the garage after the soak, I also added a can of BG EPR in the crankcase along with the B12 that ran past the piston and rings down into the crankcase, then I dropped the oil after that. Getting the oil up to temp will...

    2017 Audi Q7 3.0T - Valvoline Restore & Protect 5W-30, 2k mi

I posted this on the VR&P thread in the other area. Wanted to do a quick update on the VR&P. I pulled the filter today from the Q7 with over 1300 miles on the VR&P, I replaced it and will run this first change to 3000 miles them change it to another run of 5W-30 VRP and do a 5000 miles run on...

    2017 Audi Q7 3.0T - Valvoline Restore & Protect 5W-30, 2k mi

For those that think we're running this VR&P because we want to. It's either take chance it on cleaning up the pistons after a piston soak or blow the engine from the consequences of the stuck oil rings. So far it looks as though that the 5W30 VR&P is doing just fine. The 40 weight Euro oils...

    2017 Audi Q7 3.0T - Valvoline Restore & Protect 5W-30, 2k mi

Because these 3.0 Audi CREC engine are sticking the low tension oil rings using the recommended 40 weight Euro oils left and right. They get to a point where they blow up and burn valves with the carbon holding the exhaust valve open when consuming a quart of oil in 300-500 miles thats why...

    2017 Audi Q7 3.0T - Valvoline Restore & Protect 5W-30, 2k mi

Comments: All results are within normal ranges, and the wear rate per 1,000 miles is below 5 ppm, which is good. The particle count results look great, and the Tin level is from the Molybdenum additive in the oil. Based on these results, the oil change interval can be extended, so resample at...

    Restore and protect opinions

I have it in our 2018 Audi Q7 with the 3.0t in it that had consumed a Qt of oil in just 400 miles after we bought it with 84K miles on it. I did a Berryman's B12 piston soak, a BG EPR flush and changed to the 5W-30 Restore & Protect 1300 miles ago. It hasn't used any oil since that point, I...

    UOA - Triumph Speed 1200 RR - Rotella T6 15w-40

I used Rotella in a Honda Rincon 650 ATV. I'll never use that oil again in anything myself. I wiped a intake cam lobe using it. I changed the cam and switched my whole bike fleet over to Mobile1 0W-40 and all has been good since.

    Audi oil guidance

I hear ya, but honestly HPL is not on Audi's "approved list" either and I don't want an expensive boutique oil. Lets face it, we are not running up over 100 MPH sustained here in the states on our highways, and I'm not doing extended oil changes on the Q7. The oil never gets above 225 oil temp...

    Audi oil guidance

We just bought a 84,000 mile 2018 Audi Q7 with the newer 3.0t that is notorious for oil control rings sticking due to low tension rings. It used 3/4 of a Qt in just 400 miles after we brought it home, so I did a Berryman's B12 piston soak, then a can of BG EPR in the engine along with a can of...
